Every now and again i get a random CTD with no error. But it's like once a week if that.

For me this CTDs come form 10 seconds to 10 minutes so its a real problem for me. At the moment i don't even get to the config menu.

i get weird crashes too - but different kinds...
Crash to desktop most often, game hangs with audio still running, sometimes i can ctrl+alt+del myself out of the pickle, other times i have to force a shutdown of the system...

i run nvidia sli, and i have tried a lot of different things inside and outside of the game (nvidia control panel lets me pick a lot of different settings to be forced into the game...) - but no matter what, it's just a matter of time...

some people mentioned running the other *.exe file for the game - there is a "showdown.exe" and a "showdown_avx.exe" - for most people, running one instead of the other solves their problems, maybe this will help you ?

for me, i think the game just doesn't like my system - and since it was developed with amd graphics in mind, i think there is not much i can do about it...

AVX stands for Advanced Vector Extension, it's a tech included in all Sandy Bridge and above Intel chips. I doubt it would help with any system instability, but you never know these days
THis game crashes...

It also crashes for me randomly... Sometimes it crashes immediately after startup, others while playing, when loading, even when I am in the main menu! Sometimes I can play for a few hours without problem and others I have to try many times till I get the game to load properly...
Any fix?
My game crashes when I push the send challenge button, and I'd never seen a challenge, everytime when connected to the CHALLENGES board it failed. :(

Just change this in the hardware_settings_config.xml file in your \Documents\My Games\DiRT Showdown\hardwaresettings folder

<motion enabled="true" ip="127.0.0.1" port="20777" delay="1" extradata="1" />

If you leave extradata at 0 then the game will work but with no telemetry, if you set it to extradata="1" then it will crash.

yes its very easy to fix here are the steps you need
1.go to your library and right clik on dirt and click on properties
2.then go to local files and click on verify
3.wait till its done then open game and it should work ;)
