Who would play a X Universe game multi player, and how would you set it up,

I always wondered why it never went multi player, would make for interesting economy based game

development costs. 4x games are still a niche market - we have to be a bit mad to play them ;)

I understand, still think it would make for an interesting game, more interaction, player based economy, tho there is not much comparison between the X Universe and Freelancer, I have seen Freelancer multiplayer with a working economy, and think it would work well in this universe.

Only if it was lan cause i dont want to be killed by trolls or actual people from going through the jump gate like imagine even 100 people trying to trade in murcuries from argon prime everyone would be crashing and when u die what happens do u get your ship back if you have no ship can u keep you m2? Would ppl crash in to m2s to troll? and there would be nothing to trade all the lowbie stuff would be bought and i jump gates would be near unacesable
so like a group lan play would be cool but online would be hell

still its not our call but it would be fun

maybie small LAN or private games with about 8 at the most and theres a player "faction" (the host is the leader of course) the other players can eather command a squad or more of fighters in the main fleet, gun for another player or have their own fleet and each player would have their own cash and stations but only the leader can control the HQs

i think multiplayer would take away the entire game,i would be fun thoug.
servers should be password protected (optional) , and play session should have an option to save so you can continue the next day.
you cant build an empire in one day,thats why the game is single player.

I hope, they (egosoft) aren't going for multiplayer - this game won't fit well for multiplayer for balancing-reasons. They only could create some kind of arena sectors for multiplayer-fights.

Or trades - we don't all want to fight ;) But let me know if they do, I'll gladly come in and pick up your lost missiles ;)

We all hate when RRF jumps in with an M7. Now picture several of those jumping into a sector you are in, and with trolls at the helm. Fun times.... It will be EvE Online all over again.

X would need complete redesign for a multiplayer + most of the playerbase do not want it = No multiplayer.

Cool Everyone, thanks for all the input as it was just an idea, After hearing all of your good input, I kinda change my mind, not full multiplayer, trolls would suck, lol. would probably work better if you could host your own local server work as invite only so to keep it small, but allowing your friends everything in game, just allowing server owner the hq not right, But thankyou again for all the input.

well... think of it as one of those "host only" things like setting the server up, i mean whats the point of having max 4 player HQs? the host has to chose what it builds but the players can supply the resources

also players can give each other ships or the leader can transfer control of ships (asuming the player isn't asuming direct control of them XD) so if one player was assigned to defend the HQ (there would probably have to be a raid system or a bounty system so you get raids from xenon, yaki, pirates and kh'ak just to give people a reason to defend their base(s) or just random raids because the faction would see something to gain (being a pirate faction they would see something to loot possibly same with yaki and for the xenon and kh'ak a point that will really help them)

Yeah, I don't see why that wouldn't work, But you would need the capability to capture sectors for it to work, So I really think multi/coop play would work, but the devs need to see it as well, not to mention other players of the game, or it will not happen, for some reason, everyone is stuck on single player mode, lol.
