Been awhile since I played, so I'm just tossing out a guess here. Do your ships have navigation command software?

indeed they do

One possible way of doing this is setting "autojump" to yes for the following ships and the minimum sector distance for autojump to something like 1 or 2.

When you make the leading ship jump, the following ones will check for the distance in sectors to their target and eventually jump as well, if it is at least as great as the set distance.

as Tecuani says: are the ships you are trying to jump any of the following - M1/M2/TL/M6/M7? these ships if being made to jump require a free jump gate each, so therefore they will jump one by one, so what happening is the first jumps then has to clear the gate BEFORE the 2nd will jump etc. (Jump beacons are an exemption to this rule).

also if the gate you are jumping to has lots of traffic they may have to wait for a clear gate before jumping.

maybe i have not been clear enough sorry for that but what i mean is not jump gates but rather jumpdrives.

i di arrange those settings max jump and auto jump.

do i have to be in a fleet and be fleet leader or a wing is ok too?

Just have them follow each other then tell the first one to jump, they will all jump when there is available space between them, and usually really short time frames, just be sure to have the first one to jump to a position in a sector, then the rest will follow, then as each one shows up, issue a command for each one to go to different positions in the sector...or attack all enemies or one ship or whatever command you want...

If you jump with the ships, always be the last one to jump or try to get out of the way as soon as possible (that is hard with an M1 or M2) because the other ships will jump into you and get destroyed or even kill you...
