EQ2 Changes?
I was in the Beta for this and played for awhile went it went release. I bought a few extra modules or whatever they were called, It was an ok game and was thinking about giving it another go.

The last straw for me when I was playing, is when I was simply traveling around in an area around my level doing my quests when some "Special heroic" mob came by and one shot me. That was that for me for this game. It pretty much told me that my character was nothing special or heroic, I was just a dude. I went back to that special mob and I remember I could not even damage it so there was no way even to protect myself.

Has this been fixed?

Go play for yourself they streamlined the newbie style player progression but I'd wager that as long as you complete all the quests around you for the first 20 levels you will be geared for whatever your likely to encounter unless you are just unwary.

As long as you play smart, you should be fine. Everything seems a lot more forgiving now.

The game is always changing. I take month long breaks and go back and rediscover the content.

I've faced the same situation when EQ2 first came out. But that's the reason why I love EQ2 so much.It shows how realistic the game is. And you really have to rely on other player even just ventureing through Norrath.
It's a shame they changed it. But I can imagine some players found it unpleasing when killed by mobs pop out from nowhere.
