This or EQ1?
Which one has a higher population and overall great gameplay. Also is it really difficult or did they nerf alot of things since 99?

EQ2 seems to have a higher server population, at least in the lower levels. My wife and I recently picked up EQ2 after playing EQ for fifteen years. Both games are rediculously easy at lower levels now, I'd say moreso for EQ2. It seems every class is able to solo mobs at least five levels above them through 30th. Get a mercenary and that changes from five levels to ten levels. EQ2 is pretty easy to pick up, where EQ has a steep learning curve. It's pretty hard finding groups in EQ until 85th. EQ2 is pretty busy at lower levels. EQ2 has a much better LFG tool and I see people use the channel and such there regular. Even at high levels pick up groups are pretty rare in EQ. They added heroic adventures in EQ that were similar to LDoN dungeon crawls, so grouping may have picked up some since we left.

It really depends on what you want to do. If your ideal gameplay is a little more modern spin, with quests, and a clear line of things to do from start to finish then eq2 is your bag. If you want that old school grind out a camp and just relax then eq1 is your thing. they are both amazing but i would say eq1 is far tougher and more frustrating till you have reached a high enough level and skill level with your abilities. while eq2 looks far better and has a little healthier population..
