Too late to try it out?
Hey guys,

I never actually experienced EQ2, and would like to try it out, however I got some questions:

1. Is it too late to start? Especially with EQ Next "soon".

2. If Im f2p with restricted levels on spells, wouldn't I be nerfed in PvP?

3. How is PvP in this game?

1 its never too late as many still play eq1 after eq2 existed

2 no and why would you want to pvp in everquest?

3 pvp is uncommon not to mention stupid in eq nobody enjoys it and hte few that do have their own lame server

So EQ2 is mainly a pve game?
cruinne Jan 22, 2014 @ 10:51am
Yes. That's how it was designed. Many feel that the PVP was a stupid thing to add, and only screws up the game.

PVP was *fixed* about 2 years ago, i say "fixed" before it was great and then Soe has to go and turn it into a moldy shoe! the PVP server was a big server and had the most people on it and then SoE ruined it so no one plays on the server anymore :( was a sad day in norrath

pvp is stupid anyways, its just a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ match over whos the bigger ♥♥♥♥

I am a new player myself, and this game is so detailed at places that its sick. In a good way, mind you. I love it. Wish other MMOs could learn atleast 10% of housing that EQ2 has for one thing.

It's not too late to try out. It's a great game, find a good guild and you're set for 500+ hours of fun. But you have to be into immersive questing, sometimes co-op, and not just PVP and levelling up. Also, if you're into loot, EQ 2 has a lot :)

Hm, I tried it a little. Feels very clunky :/

And I cant have any good performance in the game neither
Dreusyla Arashi Jan 24, 2014 @ 9:31am
its not clunky, youre just not used to thinking for yourself, eq2 is not going to sit and hold your hand through every quest, zone, and level

Its the combat im talking bout

Well, I will say, too, that the UI and the amount of information thrown at low level toons is sort of overwhelming for new players. And it almost makes it worse that everything is so very customizable.

I know that even though I'd played before, when I first started up again, and my character was levelling lightning fast with new abilities populating hotbars and NPCs yammering at me, I was a little bit "MAKE IT STOP! OH GOD MAKE IT STOP!" Just a little bit.

So it's not really clunky, but it is overwhelming and there's a bit of a learning curve to pick it all up in the first ten levels or so. Especially for combat -- it's a little more involved than point-and-smash-keyboard-like-in-WoW. (And I say that as someone who quite appreciates some aspects of WoW.)

Stick with it though? It's worth it.

I still think it is clunky. The combat feel somewhat turn based, and I also can only push like 10-20 FPS with this game, I can run BF4 80+ FPS

pffft eqnext...more like eqdisney, those gfx look aweful

*laugh*

Yeah, the combat isn't turn-based, but it is tick-based. And for those of us who started online multi-player fantasy gaming with MUDs[en.wikipedia.org], that seems right and natural. We're just thrilled to have graphics.
