New player

Is Everquest 2 even worth playing now, i'm new to it and would like advice on the game. I heard the population is pretty dead, except for like one server Maj'dul, is this true? also does playing this free to play version give me access to previous expansions (obviously not the new one) for free?

The Game is stll great after 11years IMHO,I've beem playing on and off since launch back in November 8, 2004

Daybreak did a server merge thing so there now Maj'dul , Halls of Fate, and The Newest Server Skyfire(my server) so the dead server BS isnt so any more

I think you get all expansions except the newest one and the one before it.

wow thank you so much this is sure to help me, it just seems a bit overwhelming jumping into an mmo as old as the gods haha and i'll have so much content to deal with because of it.

Whoever told you the servers were dead is full of crap. Loads of people on most servers. Game is very much alive or they wouldn't have wasted time and resources developing, testing, and releasing a new expansion. You can spend 1500 DBC (I think...) and make a toon that starts at level 90. You do not get access to many expansions as a new F2P player I don't think (I bought Sentinal's Fate back in the day and still have not managed to level up high enough for it to matter).

If you buy the new expansion however, you also get access to all previous expansions.

The game is not the same as WOW so don't go into it with that game in mind. I play off and on. Most people I encounter are friendly. You can solo most zones with a mercenary that I think you get at level 20. Epic dungeons require a group at level. You can go back at a higher level and solo some x2 Raids with a merc unless they changed that. Loot is greyed (meaning you won't get it) if you are not within level range unless you mentor down to that level. I am talkiing the boss chests and such. Anyhow sorry for ranting on. You don't need anyone to quest with really so the server could be dead and you would still have fun but with all the past mergers there is plenty of players to find I am sure. There are people that like mentoring to get the bonus for doing that. There is a lot to do in EQ2 so explore everything to do rather then just focus on the end game "stuff". Crafting is actually fun in this game and you actually get good stuff from it. Read a guide to guide you through everything. A lot of the quests are fun to do also and there are literally thousands so try to check out all the zones and even start areas as well as the city quests. Good day. Have fun.

The EQ2 website is usually sufficient. EQ2wiki I think has a lot of information.
