This game is amazing. If a game that combines rhythm game and RPG appeals to you then this game would be something to look at even if that combination of genre wasn't so rare.
First off to all the people who aren't scared off from thinking of potential problems or weirdness already, it's not just "let's smash these genres together". It's very functional as a rhythm game and they made that part of gameplay the "battle" portion of the RPG. You switch between "fields" to either defend against attacks, cast spells or regain mana. The balance of strength of attacks and difficulty pulling them off feels nice and natural and the game overall feels just wonderfully made. Like any RPG you might need to grind a little but just remember to pay attention to getting good equipment and good spell usage and it shouldn't get too bad. I think the only negative I can really think about gameplay is there isn't any "turn based" alternative for anyone that isn't physically capable of playing a timing based game, but for the rest of it it's good to go.
Music and visual aesthetics might depend a bit on individual taste to say for sure but I personally loved both in this game. The story is awesome too, unlike a lot of other RPG's it doesn't give you a ton of story which works since plenty of the interest comes in the mystery and uncertainty. You get just a few cutscenes every floor, long enough to enjoy the strange characters but not so long you forget you're playing a video game. Trust me there's not really any throw away characters.
Saddly as much as I'd like to go on I don't know how much deeper I can dig without risking any spoilers or rambling on too much, but trust me when I say this is a unique gem of a game worth playing through to the end.
