32-bit Windows:
#!/bin/bash
cp /windows/Program\ Files/Steam/steamapps/common/Cave\ Story+/Profile.dat ~/.local/share/CaveStory+/Profile.dat
64-bit Windows:
#!/bin/bash
cp /windows/Program\ Files\ \(x86\)/Steam/steamapps/common/Cave\ Story+/Profile.dat ~/.local/share/CaveStory+/Profile.dat
Save as whatever you want, e.g. CaveStory+SyncSave.sh. Save to a convenient folder like the desktop or home folder and type in terminal:
chmod +x CaveStory+SyncSave.sh
to make the script executable.
As said above, achievements aren't unlocked playing that way. Too bad... I guess we'll wait a bit longer
Note that I'd already been playing it via the HumbleBundle package--but wanted to be able to get achievements and such. :-)
It's annoying that the Steam version released without the needed files, and I can't think of why they'd be so daft as to make it so, especially when the fix is so simple. Why not spend 15 minutes and do it right? Geez...
Btw I asked at the Steam support for an ETA for the executable files.
1. Download the latest .deb package.
2. Open both the download directory and the game data directory (Right click CaveStory+ in Steam, go to Local Files, and click Browse Local Files).
3. Extract the files from the .deb package.
4. Move into the 'opt/cave-story-plus/' directory.
5. Copy 'lib/' and 'CaveStory+'
6. Paste into your game data directory.
If you have done this correctly, you should have 3 things in the base of the Cave Story+ directory: 'data/' 'opt/' and 'CaveStory+'. In addition to this, it should successfully launch.
It looks like Penguin Pants had already done this. Sorry if it looks like I was stealing credit. I tried it before I even looked at this thread.
