oh shut up and go play Diablo 3 already
I guess you really have no idea how a game you-can-do-what-ever-you-like-in-because-it's-yours looks like, from all the DLC-wallet-leeching, DRM-player-frustrating "AAA" titles, that people in suits who don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about your gaming needs, have been feeding you with a tea-spoon so far.
this is Torchlight. not Blizzard's piece of DRM-server-error-repetetive-60-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-dollar crap!
@igortroy: Your argument is invalid since open and closed servers could co-exist. Will you buy me Diablo 3 or how am I supposed to play it?
you don't want to play with cheaters? don't play with cheaters. that simple.
the game even goes as far as flag any "suspicious" char for you, so you get to use your head.
So, how am I supposed to "use my head" if it is not flagged?
You know you can password your game? you can make it where only your friends join. -_- so your closed servers isnt needed. Unless you have no idea how to create a game with options like that. Besides if your joining random games well its simple you join if they are cheating you leave and dont join it. if they are awesome and playing legit add them as friends so you can play with them when you create. and besides not hard to leave a cheating game and join another. It also tags them in their character sheet to let you know if they have used cheats on them. so you know if you want to play with them or not
see a character that isn't flagged, but has a "cheated" (console-created) item equipped? or a level 2 sword with 2000 DPS?
and how about a level 30 Berserker with 1000 strength and 15k HP, or a level 10 char using a skill you need to be level 24 to unlock? don't even need a build calculator open in another window to spot those. and I still have it just in case.
found someone in your party who's cheating? it's up to you to decide if you keep playing, leave the game, or vote to kick him out.
Torchlight 2 gives you everything you need and still manages to be open and moddable with offline single-player. unlike D3.
This right here. jeez its like people want a announcer screaming saying hes cheating hes cheating. seriously not hard to look out for obvious cheats and the flag system. If this game had PVP than i could understand but in a PVE game its not that much of a issue.
I have an engie at lvl 100 with ♥♥♥♥ spells and cuz i cannot find the potion of respec i decided to give a go to another engie..wich i did and he's currently lvl 80+ and since level 45 i'm using the gear i had on my 100 , yes that is right , a lvl 45 can equip your ''requires lvl 100'' from about that level if you are good in puzzle. Why did i've typed that? So you know if you see a player that has gear that normally it's for lvl 100 on lower level to not be confused that he is a cheater. Gear beside level has other requierments than level , if you have the stats you can equip any gear from about lvl 45-50.
To arrive at your problem , i can only say 1ONE thing to you: PLAY WITH FRIENDS or make NON CHEATER ones to play with , is not hard , you only need patience. Cheating unfortunately will never stop since is in the bone of our society , and i think every game has cheats , since the guys who makes them need to test some things so you won't have problems with your gameplay experience. I sincerely wish you the best of luck.
Im 90+ hours in on this game and Ive only had to kick a total of 4 players since I started multiplayer and it only took me a few seconds to look at their character to figure it out.
My question is why would anyone pay for 3rd party software when all those things listed can be done in just the console commands or just by starting a lan or online game?
Lets see those points
1.give your character more gold .... pretty dam easy to do in console no special software
needed
2.clone your character..... pretty easy to do also seeing the game makes backup saves of characters already again no special software needed for that.
3.change single-player difficulty level - this one real easy start a lan and online game change the difficulty again no speical software needed, and what is the point of changing it? Higher difficulty dose not get you better loot in this game so no point of changing it unless you want more of a challange.
4.promote a softcore character to hardcore- not much point to this either not like hardcore gets better loot perks over a softcore only reason I see to do this is to cheat the achievment system
The only benefit I see to this 3rd party crapware is the abitly to unflag your characater I wonder how much they are charging for this scamware because that thing sounds like a total rip off if you ask me. But hey if someone is dumb enough to pay these guys for crappy software that dosn't really do anything special then they deserve to get ripped off.
Oh and I forgot to add that they also give you a ban list to put all those cheaters on.
Borderlands 2 has the same cheating problem.
oh hell no!
if Runic ("old Blizzard") turn into new Blizzard, I stop buying.
I'm ready to tolerate all possible cheaters, bugs, glitches and logouts as long as Torchlight games stay open, moddable, with no crap DLC that costs more than the game, and with a Single Player mode that DOES NOT require you to be connected to any damn server to play a game you payed good money for.
this is the way it was back in Diablo I&II days and that's the way it should be, and all those evil game corporations that kill small companies, clone games, and try to enforce their greedy, restrictive ways on the gamers who pay them - can go ♥♥♥♥ themselves!
Yes, but only they also had an optional closed Battlenet server. That's all I ask for. ;-)
But it seems I can only play with friends then. Oh, well, too bad.
