GAME WONT LAUNCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok i have a problem... tl2 wont start. I changed the resoluion to a higher point and it said i may need to restart the game... so i did. next it starts up again and it get to the logo. it starts flickering and my cursor goes away and it wont do anything at all just keeps flickering plz help!!!

you tried to set up on a bit lower resolution?

well i cant even get to the title screen to do anything i tried uninstalling and everything

You'll probably have better luck on the Runic Tech Support forum. There are some folks having various start up problems (Namely with Win 7 64-bit and the last update) and there are some solutions listed.

Yours may be a different issue (it sounds like a memory/video card/driver issue) but likely someone will chime in...Also, ensure that you meet the min. specs for the game and verify that your video card drivers are updated. Also, you might turn off your background programs, namely AV and see if that works. Good Luck.

If it is caused by the higher resolution, you can change it without starting the game. Just edit Documents/My Games/Runic Games/Torchlight 2/local_settings.txt with Notepad and change the values of RES_WIDTH and RES_HEIGHT to match a lower resolution.

zak i did wut you suggested the only thing that changed was it actually came up with the crash report

so i went on the tech support forum like you said and i saw stuff that said to shut down steam, rename steam apps to steamapps_old, then delete clientregistry.blob, and i think it might work

Good deal .. I was going to mention that too but the flicker/resolution change made it sound like something else... hope it works.

Try going to 'My Documents\My Games\Runic Games\Torchlight 2' and then rename 'local_settings.txt' to 'OLDlocal_settings.txt'. After you've renamed the file, try running the game again.
