Torchlight II
Frame-rate issues
Anyone else having frame rate issues when using skills (such as the Fire Hammer one for Engineer) when using it on larger groups of enemies? I seem to be having these issues no matter how low the graphical settings are set, although there's no rightful reason for these issues to be occuring, even at the highest graphical levels and options on my computer.

Edit: Since everyone else with this issue seems to be using ATI cards, I think I should mention I have an nVidia 560 Ti.

The "local_settings.txt" file in [C:\Users\<your-name-here>\Documents\My Games\Runic Games\Torchlight 2] has line: "NETBOOK MODE :0"

try setting it to 1 and let me know if it does anything at all.

other than that, i get the same in MP, forced to limit it to 3 players.
Yeah, similar issues here, I was assuming it was an ATI Driver issue (running a 5870). I'm gonna wait until 12.9 gets its official release before getting depressed over my video card under-performing again.
Turn down your shadows a bit, that usually helps framerate issues.

I wouldn't my 580 has the same issues, and I've seen people with 680's and 7950's have the same issue as well. Once they use skills, the FPS dips from 60 or w/e, to 30-40.
I've got the same problem. Netbook Mode doesn't change anything...
I have a 6870 and my framerate drops and the game just goes black, very frustrating considering my computer handles more graphically intensive games like nothing
Same problem very frustrating
Yeah, i´ve got the same problem here.
Normaly it runs smoothly at 60fps but with 10-15 mobs and aoe attacks it drops to 12-15 sometimes.
Graphical Setting doesnt change things. No matter if its all high or lowest settings.
I think the problem is that its not very optimized for multicore CPU´s.

I´ve got a AMD 1100T @ 3,3GHz and and 460gtx and only 1 Core is running at 100%
the rest is somewhere arround 2-10%. Maybe somebody else got this aswell.
I've got exactly the same issues, also with the engineer... :( No matter what kind of graphical settings I play, this happens all the time when I use AoE skills and there are more then a few mobs on the screen...
Hope that there will be some kind of fix for this, because these slowdowns are very annoying... :(
I have the same issue as well with my 670.... Random drops into the 40's when multiple mobs on the screen and using heavy AOE. When I started having these issues, I turned on my GPU monitor to do a bit of digging. One key thing I noticed was my GPU clock speed was inconsistent. Through most game play, clock was running at Idle speeds, essentially the same speed i would have when viewing desktop (this is when I would experience the FPS issues). However, my GPU would randomly jump up to about 70% clock speed and I would see NO issues at all. GPU Speed changes had no pattern in them whatsoever It would randomly jump/lower after fights, when zoning or even when standing still... I assume new drivers will fix it but we will have to wait and see!

At least this game is amazing enough to forgive! Good luck fellas!
That's interesting...I guess it has maybe something to do with the multicore CPU handling... I forgot to write I've also got nvidia GPU.

if people with 680 go down to 30-40 there computer is defect i never get under 100 FPS.

a AMD 5870 i can understand have problems.
EVGA gtx580 all settings maxed no slow downs at all anywhere win 7 64 bit and core i7920
runs great for me.
I have a nvidia geforce gtx 460M card and game works fine for me! Latest drivers, even have AA set in the control panel to 4x wnile anisotropic is set to 2x, and high quality textures, as well as a couple other modified settings. I get very rare slowdowns but not enough to impact performance.

Not true, people with a 580 (my card), have no issues whatsoever, but I do. This is an issue that is affecting certain people, if you can run a game like BF3 on ultra setting with no issues, but a game like TLII is giving you problems; something isn't right. Is it the drivers? Possible. CPU bottleneck? Possible as well. Could also be game coding, at this point, Runic has a lot of work to do with this game.

it's too common for it to be defective computers.
