Wanna be friends!
^ ^ Ok so I just got this game and Im loving it!
My names Dizzy and Im really excited to play it and I want to talk to others who have played it!
So my first question is!
How do you play and how important is asthetics to you?
Personally I spend hours working out every little detail to make sure my hero looks her best!
If even for a moment no matter how powerful a item is if it doesnt look simply perfect I wont ware it.

I get alot of grief from my brother and friends about it.. saying I will die and be useless and all that junk... so what do you all think?

Depends on what mode you play. If you play easy you are find but if you play vet or elite you are ♥♥♥♥. My point is stats before looks.

Casual difficulty was designed for playstyles like yours. People who play elite generally have to care about stats, not looks.

well you talk about easy and elit but... what about normal? the most basic mode and the one I feel is kinda like the base way to play not to easy or hard.

Normal should probably be fine. I guess it depends how picky you are with appearances, but you should be fine on normal. Veteran is the usual difficulty for people who have played this genre of game before.

Normal is practicaly the easy mode, casual is more like ridiculously hyper-mega-easy

about the looks:you can find a number of matching sets in every act, true sets and "non-set" but lookalike rares and uniques too,I'd like to take a look on my characters and feel that "yeah he's a badass" but after all, stats are what really matter, yet I never had a feeling of looking like a clown, item designs are just simply awesome

I haven't seen a screenshot, but I hear the Asphyx set looks really ugly, yet it's a very good endgames set.

Really? you feel stats are all that matters? ^ ^ I feel the exact opposet... i dont care about the stats at all and only what it looks like matters... I dress them in the prettiest or most nice looking things i can find and ignore the stat values unless i can find the same item but better!

To me looking only at stats seems silly... like why give the outfits collors and desighns when nobody will care...
But I avoid matching sets cause i dont want to feel like my outfit has been decided for me... i try and find things that look good together and compliment eachother but without being apart of a set... there collors hard have to mix juuuust right.

So far I havent had any issues in any games ware people tell me stats matter... like in skyrim im waring the alik'r clothing and a scimitar at level 41 and its on elite and in world of warcraft i ignored stats all together.
But I think normal mode even for torchlight is the base way it was meant to be played and the other stuff is for a greater or lesser chalenge.

But in the end everything seems to work out just fine ^ ^

I have been critisized for throwing away extreamly powerfull items cause they had like a fire enchantment that flickerd around and got in the way of seeing the items base look... or not waring cloves cause they made my outfit look to clutterd.

Stats is the only thing that matters for me. But then again I play on Elite.

@DizzyCrash: well,different strokes for different folks :D
as I said I like it if my char looks good but gimping a char for it is a whole other story, arpgs are about progressing your gear and skills so it's kinda unavoidable to change those shiny boots of epic sparkleness,or you got to be extremely lucky with the rolls,I have a lvl20 shoulder on my 65 engineer and I'm yet to find an alternative,it's ugly as hell but if I take it down I loose the stats for my other gear requirements, and ultimatley it's better to have an ugly shoulderplate than having a naked party with werewolves around :D

well personally when you put as much focus as I do on appearence you notice the item your looking for does eventually turn up at a higher level! like those armpads with the arrow sticking out of them! iv alwase been able to keep up with my siblings when playing cause the items i ware on my outfitis do come along eventually at a higher level usualllly pretty fast.
