Terrible Screen Tearing with ATI HD6770
After updating drivers 12.10 I noticed a terrible problem with the screen tearing that makes me really horrible gaming experience.

I had already started a thread similar to the release of 12.10. Now, since AMD recently released new drivers (13.1), I am having the same problem, and I'm looking for an alternative solution to reinstall 12.8.

Thank you for your attention and for any replies.

is Vsync on or off? If its off, turn it on.

Obviously the Vsync is active.
As for the driver mentioned, do not personally know the reference site.

However no one has encountered these problems? I played without problems before 12.10, and did not find any improvement with 13.1, I really leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Have you tried turning vsync off?

This could also be a problem with your monitor. Mine has a similer issue if the game forces vsync in set increments (30 or 60 fps) instead of dynamicly changing to the monitors rate. My monitor has a wierd refresh rate of 59. so some games give me tearing with vsync on.

I also tried to disable Vsync.
Btw when I had the 8.12 drivers, I never had any kind of problem related to tearing. From 12.10 instead became unplayable.

Unfortunatly im going to say its highly likely that AMD broke something.. Check your Catalyst Control Center and see if you can enable the Forced Vsync option if its still there somewhere, if not im not sure what to tell you :(
Or you can just stuff the 12.8 driver in the torchlight 2 directory. This has been an existing problem since the 12.9 driver update with the flickering. Vsync has nothing to do with it.

On that note I really hope they actually push an update that works with the newest catalyst drivers.

my HD 5870 card also tears alot, in THIS game only, no other games and no tests.
It artifacts or tears.
Have tried with v sync on and off, different shadow options, with or without filtering options and quality and what not, nothing works, but it seems like its confined to and in different amount depending on what zones you (I) am in.
yeah, this had affected me on 12.10 drivers and changing settings don't work, only a temporary revert to 12.8 seems to fix it.

One of the big problems with AMD from when i owned some of their cards was that the drivers ran Vsync in set numbers (30 fps, 60 fps only) So if your monitors refresh rate was different, like my samsung monitor which only pull 59 fps for some annoying reason, you get a lot of tearing in games no matter what you do.

I used to have to use 3rd party drivers :( cant remember their name, Fusion maybe?

Sadly, that was entirely the reason i will no longer touch an AMD card, or product in general. I feel they just dont know how to compete, their video card drivers tend to be half♥♥♥♥♥♥♥compared to Nvidia, and their CPUs suck for gaming. they used to be the best bang for your buck, but since the merger they are bad :/

I use the Omega drivers for AMD/ATI. They have always been better and you don't need all the Catalyst cwap.
