Why does the store say that there is DLC available to download?
The store says that there is available DLC for Torchlight 2, but I can't find any info. on the T2 website, does anyone know what is up?

Yea it sucks, it's just the recent patch.I think 2 new pets, new boss rooms and some other cool new stuff added in. Very misleading by steam.

A patch? Since when is that DLC?
SirSmack'ems Dec 5, 2012 @ 8:46pm
That's what i'm saying.
Four Horseman Dec 5, 2012 @ 8:48pm
That's horrible, they should be strung up... well, maybee not...
SirSmack'ems Dec 5, 2012 @ 8:54pm
Lol yea that would be alittle harsh, it is an awesome and all. So they get an easy pass.

I was actually just wondering this, and read the last patch update, I am thinking that you are all correct. And no stringing up.

What I'm actually wondering, if they're planning on making a new class, or maybe that's left up to the modders. either or it's all good by me!

badger badger badger badger badger badger badger mushroom mushroom! AWESOME NEW PETS! and new classes would be awesome. im not sure they could do a fullon expansion but you never know, maybe like a cleanup mission.

Well, some games sell single power or cosmetic items as "DLC". For example, W40K: Space Marine they sell a $3 "Power Sword" for.

So yes this is free DLC for Torchlight 2 with the new pets and whatnot. Fable 3 makes you pay for a $3 for new pets and a extra $2 for a pet costume. Torchlight 2 gives you whole new pets for free.

Considering that the actual $/content value of a pet compared to the entire original game is probably like $0.0001 I'm really glad Torchlight is doing the right thing and NOT ripping their customers off by charging for it like many other games would.

That was their promise. no item sales, no subscriptions, no DRM.

I really love how they have so far been good to their customers.

I really hope they do not diverge from this if/when they make a Torchlight MMO.

Couldn't agree more!

DLC Downloadable Content.... the patch is downloadable and the things it offers is content.
What is there to understand? were you expecting to have to pay for it?
Do you Want to pay for it? if so just donate money or buy the game to gift.

Do I sense some sarcasm? I do realize that the patch is downloadable, don't get me wrong, there is still tons of stuff that I have yet to discover, so it's not like I'm claiming that T2 needs more content; it's just that the steam store says that there is "available DLC", this usually means that the dev's have created new "optional" content, not a patch. If a patch could be considered DLC, then steam should have "available DLC" on every game.

Thats the problem with DLC though, they are just patches that you (almost always) have to pay for. The difference between a "Patch" and a "DLC" is just the name of it, they both do the exact same thing.

Bug fixes and Content are not mutally exclusive processes, weve just given them different labels over the years, like how cell phones are called moble phones now. Its just a lot easier for companies to cut out the "content" from patches, and give them a new label "DLC" , which makes them feel justified for putting a price tag on them.

I remember when companies would give you both "Bug fix patches" and "Content patches" , for free. Or even just mashing them both together in a single download and calling it a "patch/game update".

But back on topic, its just another one of steams errors. They say theres DLC...ALOT...for games that never have DLC. Like when you view the game library and your game has a DLC button on the right, but when you click it, its blank.

right on, I was just wondering (in the first place). Not a big deal, I love Torchlight and look forward to many more hours of fun.
