Torchlight II

Torchlight II

Statistiche:
Torchlight II - Crashed 7 times in 7 hours
This game is beautiful but unfortunately it crashes so often as to be unplayable. Whenever a crash occurs it erases all the progress in my game from the last scene change so it makes it very difficult to get anywhere. What's worse is RUNIC GAMES refuses to offer any useful support. I've requested a refund from Steam but I'm not getting my hopes up as I've no faith in their customer support from past experiences, either.

Turn off your steam cloud for this game, that way everything is saved onto your hard drive instead. You'll never lose any progess unless you delete it yourself.
Thanks! How do I do that?
Right-click the game in your library, properties, it's under "updates'. Alternatively you could leave steam cloud turned on and when it warns you that your save file is newer on your HDD, tell it not to overwrite.

Cloud warns you before overwriting newer saves, but I've found that nobody bothers to read the popup before clicking OK.
To be honest, I've never had any stability issues either. If you have a descriptive error message, I bet other community users will try to help troubleshoot if you actually include it.

You can also submit crash reports to Runic. They obviously will not be able to fix it right this second, but they do receive them.
If you were a little more specfic on the crash I may be able to help figure it out. But just to cover the basics.

1. Have you updated your graphic drivers?
2. If your getting a Blue screen what dose the error message say?
3. Dose the game just crash to desktop or is it locking up the PC to the point where you have to reboot?
4. What version of windows are you using?

Also if I am not wrong when torchlight2 crahes if it is due to the game and not driver or PC specfic it makes a dump file if you can get that to a dev then can look and see if its the software or your PC

Do you have a dual core or higher setup? Because I do know that T2 has some issues with threading and I believe there is a work around.

Specs for the PC you are on would help also, and if it is a laptop or deskp top PC
Hi Zero
1. No, I'll get on that.
2. I'm not getting the BSoD
3. It crashes to desktop and pops up that little "Oops, this crashed, tell us what you were doing at the time" window.
4. Windows XP SP3
Thanks CreepingWraith!
Well, I tried everything everybody has told me to try and it still crashes. 9 times in 9 hours now. -_- I don't know what to do other than to just accept that I can't play the game and Runic and Steam aren't going to give me a refund.
And of course, Steam came back with a blunt refusal to refund the game. No surprise there.
hi cic76, i have exactly the same problem, i use Windows XP SP3 too (and my graphic drivers are up to date). i have reported it several times during the weeks following the game's first release, but this problem does not seem to be a priority for runic....
I found that the problem happens most of the time when opening or closing a menu (Stats, Skills, inventory, enchanting, merchant....) I haven't find any way to solve the problem but if if it happens in the same way for you I advise you to save your game before opening any menu (the main menu doesn't crash the game)
when you play, is your computer connected to internet ?
