I already had to delete one thread due to a dog pile, and I already uninstalled it. But just because you so nicely offered t listen, the problem is the atrocious multiplayer system. (Oh god, there I did it again I complained, Runic defense league engage in 3....2....1....)

It actually wants me to gut my firewall when no other arpg (or any other MP game I've played in the past 3 years) makes such a demand. In some threads they even try to blame the routers.

Poor coding, poor design. Turned a potential d3 killer into a single player stand alone expansion . I loved d2, d3 froze and shattered my heart, tl2 stomped on the shards.

Yeah the mp problem is a big one, but sorry man that's one thing I don't know how to fix. I play from Australia anyway so I kind of gave up trying to find a good connection cause everyone's playing from the US. I'm presuming you read all you could on the net about it?
Did you send a help ticket to runic? Cause they actually did help me get my game running much better. I wish they had the resources to set up a battle.net type system. Then TL2 would be the king :)

I hear ya, especially the part about gutting your firewall. Another Dev Team here told me pretty much the same thing. To uninstall my AV/SW and disable my firewall. I was like, "What?! For one game? I don't think so." $15 wasted.

I think all those mods players use, is the main problem to it all. Amature modders and mods full of bugs. I play Vanilla and have only once tried to log onto a server. I managed but, the players were idiotic so, that was the last time I tried.

im trying to think of reason to play multiplayer in T2 in the first place..... nope cant do it. If i can finish the game NG+++ veteran mode, kill any boss, finsih any map, loot any legendary by myself, why would i put myself through the aggrivation of a POG?
Thats not to say youre problems with mp werent porperly addressed. I just dont see how its a deal breaker to enjoying the game.

Neither can I. I refuse to PUG in games these days anyway, so multiplayer will never be an issue for me in any game I play. It's a shame for those who like that kind of activity though.

there are some problems here and there with the game, yes, but is it the worst ARPG you make it out to be, just because you have a slight difficulty playing online? no, it is far from that and you really need to get over yourself
my firewall is up and running with no need to shut it down at all to play TL2, youre just incredibly stubborn and just want to throw your food on the floor like a 5 year old.
then again, you like the ♥♥♥♥ show that is diablo 3, so why even bother? just go back to your casualized garbage thats been run into the ground by blizzard, and you wont need to bother at all to close your threads down like a big baby when the merest mention of "o noes the defense leagues r here" sends you running for the hills

Although I said I wouldn't care how you react to my - polite - reminder about manners,
this is going too far to be left alone.

1. No one said it is abrasive to voice criticism - Your profanity screaming behaviour was.
Lots of *Badwords* and lots of "!!!!!" will earn a response you won't like. Fact.

2. You "had" to delete the flaming "dog pile" you wrote because it was just a hate
and rage post, nothing more. You didn't try to discuss, you just spouted insults and
quite frankly behaved like one would expect from a bad-mouthed, entitled, 12 year-old
CoD kid. You obviously realized that, because you deleted it right away after getting the responses you got.

3. No one even tried to discuss your "issues" because of the above, and while the other
responses were quite rude, they were like that because of your incredibly abrasive main
post. I simply felt the need to point out that being more polite results in much more
helpful and friendly answers - as you can see from this thread - but instead of
simply trying again in a more friendly manner, you felt the need to insult us in a
not-quite-clever and toned down kind of way by saying what I quoted above.

At least you left out all the heartheartheartheart words this time that made your other
post hard to read to begin with. It's kinda sad to see that you seem to have
acknowledged the main point of what was said, and then still feel the need to get back
at us like this.

I am now quite interested to see how you handle this one - I wouldn't be surprised if
you just delete it again and go cry about it somewhere else.

The next time I stumble across yet another one of your raging profanities,
(remember? I told you quite a few of your other posts have caught my eye simply

I'm a little bit lost I have a Windows 7 64bit Ult edition custom built rig and when I installed the game and went online brifly it asked to go through the windows 7 firewall and I let it on my HOME network, it works perfectly and it would still mean the game is being filtered through it and my router firewall too, so what is actually the issue here?????

From a technical standopint there's nothing to discuss. When the official answer to multiplayer issues is to unlock your front door, while none of the other games you play have any trouble, it's pretty obvious where the problem is.

I won't speculate on the origin psychology of dev/corp whiteknights, but I'm sure it's depressing in a fascinating way.

Why are you so upset by me? I thought you'd be happy that I deleted the last post. That's your objective isn't it? To silence/punish all complaint? Or is that insufficient? Must all user speech be in active praise of your opinion?

As I said I already uninstalled it. Any time a third player joined, I got a connection fail, or they failed to connect to us. (This game doesn't know how to handle NAT.)

Why is that such an issue for me? Because this game ruined an opportunity for me to play with my best friend and her young son, and I was the one that bought him the game. I wanted to facilitate and be a party to their bonding a little, and it was trouble from the start and ended with me leaving so they could play as a pair.

I felt cheated on a number of levels.

Firstly, the MP system is so half assed that you can't even create an account from within it, his dad had to help him navigate the webpage while his mom and I got ready for his arrival and worked out how to find each other on the runic net client thing, which actually managed to be difficult with only 137 active players. (I'm assuming that was just our server?)

And have you seen the torchlight 2 page? It's incredibly sparse. It screams default template. Not at all what you'd expect from a team with such an illustrious past.

Secondly, I can't get a refund under any circumstances, I know better than to even ask. I'm extremely disgusted with how eager users are in general to tolerate exploitative situations. (I'm a big fan and donor to the EFF I actively oppose such situations, which I guess makes me "abrasive.") Sirus and company following me around to scold for daring to complain is a flagrant example of that apologist, scold the heretic attitude.

I mean look at the quip above about "heart heart" words. The censorship doesn't bother him, my forcing them to expose it does. Wow.

Could he be more eager to please those with what passes for power here? (The only real power they have here is to steal with impunity, but that's enough given that I've spent hundreds of dollars on games over the years.)

Thirdly, speaking of pay, I could have easily "pirated" (More like manufacture, but whatever. Like anyone here knows who Falkvinge is.) this game. But I didn't because I like to play by the rules, even when they are corrupt. ( Color me a different brand of corporate lacky I guess. Or at least well trained. :/ ) Had I pirated this game and then stopped playing due to the MP issue, I would be in the same situation if steam would grant me a refund, but expressly because I play fair, they fleeced me.

That's my thinking and my feeling on this topic, but really there is no issue anymore. I already unistalled it, and barring massive future changes I doubt I'll ever play it again.

Yeah, I played it single player too, but that got boring because the character classes are extremely rigid after playing titan quest and dredmor. But like I explained my objective wasn't to play so much as it was to facilitate play in a game that I think is rather suitable for children. It's cartoony, fairly straight forward, colorful, clever, etc. I intended to meta game basically, to support my friend and her son and just kind of watch them enjoy the game and hang out, and blast monsters in the mean time.

So yeah, that's that. I'd close this thread if it were permitted.

Sirus is right about that, I probably will end up deleting it again, after all, I can't mute it and I can't unsubscribe, and I doubt sirus is going to let anyone other than him have the last word. So I see this turning into a lose/lose situation post haste.

Ive heard a good deal about MP issues but I seem to be on the side of the scale that feels no impact. Granted, I've had some issues since I'm on wireless but it's more of a household type of thing; I prefer a hardline-type of connection and so ethernet-ing my router vastly stabilized the experience. I've had no demands for gutting my firewall as you put it - it's up and running and so is the game, 130+ hours strong.

My personal complaint about the MP is that this game's steam has died down since release and mods have taken over, so "vanilla" MP is to be enjoyed during peak hours for the most part, and even then it depends on your progress (NG+ game lists have a single hand's count of games up at any one time.) So it's sadly become a bit of a game you play online with a group of friends to get the most out of it.

Well, I'm not an expert but you could try to use hamachi (I don't know if it still exist) or something similar to use the Lan connection. Usually I play this game using Lan, and I have no problems.
But again, I'm not an expert.... ;D... hope this help you to enjoy this game! It is really good.
