Hi, as the title suggests, I'm looking for the best control pad mod. Can anyone point me in the right direction. I'm new to mods

Sorry to bother you again, does using a mod stop you from getting steam achievements (I love chasing achievements)

Nope. In fact..there are actually achievements for installing mods. Just take a look at the achievement list and you will see.
