Xcom bugs, depressing trend?
Im not saying I dont like the game, Im a pretty big fan of the series... but I feel like it would be more responsible to bug test like you mean it before you launch. There is a decent size list of game breaking flaws. And it feels like a lot of people are considering launching the game the same as bug testing.

I think there have been a lot of great games ruined for me by bugs that make the game unplayable. Any form of entertainment that requires 20+ hours to complete should take special care not to have multiple flaws that force you to start over.

In xcom, if you started an Ironman file I feel sorry for you. You will be shot through solid game borders like rock walls and hills, your save files will freeze on you after missions are finished, your characters will glitch out, or your file could become corrupted to the point where you can load a file and not be able to move from the command center or perform any actions.

And this is not the first game I have been excited for to do this. From memory I had these same problems with Skyrim, Fable 2, Fallout New Vegas, Rage, HAWK2, the list goes on.

Placing a product on the market and calling it finished is a matter of trust. And its being violated all to often with what appears to be a blatent lack of basic bug testing before launch. Im not paying you $50 to be your bug test monkey. Im paying it to play a game you promised would be fun.

And if I cant trust a company (im looking at you 2k games) to release an at least decent quality game at launch, then maybe I should stop supporting you by buying your game at launch or pre-ordering it. After all, I could pick it up used at gamestop in a few months.

lol, the shooting through hills thing, not a bug just a dumb camera / animation cycle.I've already dumped close to 20 hours into xcom (haven't been sleeping much) and out of 12 ironman classic games that have all ended in horrible. I have not had one game where these mystical bugs have crashed / caused me to restart.

as for picking up Xcom used at a gamestop? what time machine lets you go back 10 -15 years when gamestop / EBgames had computer games on their shelves much less let you trade one in. / pick a used one up.

and if your using the steam forums to complain about xbox/ps3 copies, Ha, i laugh at you and your controller.

no ive incountered some of the bugs he is talking about and most of them (infact all of them) have ben centered around the Alien Base. where im having massive problems of the game freezing on me

Your long argument is the very reason I won't buy a single game from Lucasarts and Oblivion. They burned me with the SWTOR 2.

Actually, I've experienced problems in a alien base as well, Starcraft. I've tried going through it 3 times already, and every time I use Suppressing Fire on a target, the game crashes.

And yes, I recognize repeating the same action over again is stupid, but I wanted to make sure I knew what was causing the crash.

Huh, I just completed my first playthrough and encountered none of these problems. Maybe when I start my 2nd here in a few. :)

The closest thing to a "serious" bug i've encountered so far is a bit of terrain on an escort mission that glitched out at certain angles causing it to flicker and be unselectable. I just moved the camera and it was fine but that certainly served as an example to me that the game is FAR from bug free. I feel sorry for those not as fortunate as I am.

I have encountered a single game freezing bug. It happens what you have a Hovering SHIV And upgrade the suppressing fire for SHIVS at the foundry. Then, your 'now updated''' SHIV, when you start a mission, will freeze the game, as there is some conflict in the coding where the SHIV should be updated before or during the mission, so when you tell to to take an action the game freezes, and it also shows it having a rifle. I got around this by just not using the SHIV, I will see if dismantaling it and building a new one helps.

They probably won't. Not that many dev teams bother hiring the people to look through the steam forums as well. If you actually want a dev team to hear about a repeatable issue you're having then you need to post it in the designated area on their own forums. You also may need to provide information on the system you're using so they can determine if it's a hardware/driver related issue.

You poor sad man, this game is on the xbox and PS3 as well. Also there are plenty of screenshots and video of the bugs being described. If you havent noticed them then good for you, but you seem to be defending this game as being bug free and that is ridiculous.

Also on a side note they do carry new pc games in a very small section at my local gamestop.

The game is unplayable for me. All my 25 soldiers are stated to be on a mission, so I can't choose anyone when I'm going out on a mission - except the 5 who were there. Went on a mission, 2 got injured, now I only have 3 soldiers available. I can't bring in any of my _18_ healthy soldiers to fill the gap.

Another rush effort. No surprise.
