Second mission

I keep losing control of my units part way through this mission, what am I doing wrong? It says to split the two unit types up and send them each to a different place. First off it wont let me split them, i tried clicking the different units but when i click send it always sends them all anyways regardless of my click, and after that happens i lose control of everything entirely and can no longer send my units anywhere.

Oil Rush is not a standard real-time strategy game. It looks like one and the controls feel very similar but it's not; that's what's confused you (and me). Oil Rush is a node control game. You own nodes (platforms) which may spawn units or produce/store oil. The units at these platforms can then be moved to another platform by selecting the platform in the main view, or the mini-map, and right-click the destination you want them to go. That you probably already know. There are two additional controls that affect the move order:

1) At the bottom of the screen is a list of all the units at the platform. You can click on these and deselect the ones you don't want to order to move. This is the solution to your actual question. Click on one unit type, to deselect it, and right-click on a destination. The selected unit type will then move. I think that's all you have to do; you may have to move the remaining unit type somewhere else, I can't remember.

2) At the top of the mini-map are three buttons marked 25%, 50% and 100%. Of the selected units, only the chosen X% will receive the order. So if you have a large force and want to split it into two, but want to keep the composition it currently has for both, select 50% and issue a move order. Half your force will leave, the rest will remain at the platform.

The other thing you have noticed is that the 'recall' order (the looped arrow to the right of the unit selection list) only works if the units are still in proximity to the platform. It allows you to immediately cancel orders if you've made a mistake but once they are en-route you cannot turn them around until they reach their destination, so be careful!
