It's OK. $10 is a fair price but if you're on the fence then wait for a sale, it'll be practically free.

It's a casual base-building game. The strategic considerations basically boil down to:

* plonk food and sleep objects near dwarves.
* farm, research and dig cautiously while warriors level up.
* dig out dangerous spots.

In my experience the game is not actively annoying to play; there are no glaring interface quirks and there's no excessive micromanagement. But the game is extremely shallow, so long term replayability is limited.

For me the game's strongest point is that it makes building a base in 3D space pretty fun and easy. Its biggest failing is that there's no strategic component to base layout: a multi-level underground fortress functions exactly the same as a flat square floor with some randomly placed beds and tables.
