****UPDATE***BEWARE!!!*********GFWL patched out of the game but saved games are gone too

So, finally we get rid of the GFWL from this game (Steam patched mine five minutes ago while I was chatting to a friend) and now my 2 saves which are both completed and just needed finsihing off have been deleted from my game. WHY????????? I appreciate that the DRM had to be removed as the "service" being provided by GFWL is being removed next year, but to delet my save game? This is not on. I have invested hundreds of hours of gameplay on this game and now to find it all deleted is not on. This is not right. This comes an hour after I have had to inform my local Game store that there has been a push back on the release of the upcoming Arkham Origins (available for p.c. gamers a full 3 weeks after the other "major" platforms.


Edit - Having spoken to the Guys at Warner Interactive UK this afternoon I have been reliably informed that the fault with the removal of the much despised GFWL which is repsonsible for the problems with saved game data is beyond the control of WB Interactive/Games. Due to the formatting of the save data and the cloud format, Microsoft (who control and maintain the GFWL "service" are completely at fault and there is nothing WB Games can do. They empathise with us gamers who have lost data but, ultimately, it's Microsoft's fault. They have not consulted WB Games or anyone else in regards to removing this "service" so any complaints vented through here (although welcomed if you're as frustrated as me) they are best forwarded to Microsoft.

None of this surprised me but it was nice to be able to speak to smeone who was in the right place - even if it was the wrong place. Especially when they were as helpful as they could be.

Might just be the price we have to pay to get rid of GFWL. Better tha nthe alternative of not being able to play them at all I guess. Minor annoyance to get rid of a giant one.

Games were saved via GFWL before, now they will be saved via steam cloud I guess... so yeah... it sucks... but for most to see GFWL die simply compensates everything.
I'm one of the ones who didn't pay much attention to it since I never had any issues with the games I have that used it.

same here never had a problem with GFWL, doesnt bother me either way only played the main story once so losing saves is no big deal to me either.

What I would like to know is if securom also got trashed... that one I hate... that message that you may install the game you bought a maximum of 'y' times on a maximum of 'x' computers simply was insulting to me.

They should. It helps a lot. Really. For example in CS:GO people asks tons of stupid questions, because they have some problem, but if they read the informations they'd have the solution.

because GFWL uses encrypted savegames to make sure the can only read via GFWL

Just got this update as well and saw that my saves were gone. I also cannot even start the gfwl service from the desktop like i would normally have to do to be able to access my saved games. Any way to some how get my saved games back?
