RotMG is BROKEN
I have tried 20+ times to make this work, but i just see a black screen. Chat, minimap, inventory, and all that show up, just no people on the actual screen. I have tried after disabling hardware accel, but it still was broken!

Hardware Acceleration. Just go into the options and look for it under Graphics or something similar to that.
