Thoughts on classes
The following is ordered from to better classes to worst ones(usefullness)

1,
Scientist in my opinion the best class almost too good especially if all the four worms is scientist.
Gaining all your worm 5 hp extra every time is your turn. if all your worm scientist and you manage to keep them alive that means 20hp per turn.
Keeping up that and you won the game doing nothing but camping or by worm terms darksiding. Its extremly powerfull and the best tactic in deathmatch.

Only counter is against them to destroy scientist as soon as possible,if you see somebody using them in 4 player game, your best bet is to attack the player who using the 4 scientist tactic and to form temporaliy allience with other player who dont.

This class supposed weakneses is less agility and less powerfull attacks.
However both still quite accaptable, even easily can be said minimal price for 5 HP bonus.

Review
+the least skill demanding class to play, even with bad aiming you can win with attrition
+5Hp/per turn by far the best class bonus
+class disadvantages very minimal if you look on advantages

2,
Soldier
Easy to handle good damage and good mobility. There is not much else to said about this class except that it dont have serious disadvantages like the other two having thats why ranked second on my list

Review
+good at everything, however it exceels in nothing still solid choice for those who want reliability

3,
Scout
Godlike mobility however very vulnarable to knocback and having pitifull damage
While having godlike mobility certainly having it perks can be real pain too, easy to make mistakes which cost a turn. Also this worm class having realy problems staying alive or killing enemy worms. One explosion and you knocked in water bye bye worm.

Review
+best mobility ingame which can be handy in may situation
-sadly mobilty it offers not enough compensation for its disadvantages
-lack of damage
-very vulnarable to knockbacks

4,
Heavy
In my opinion the worst class by far.
Yes they have the best damage dealing capibilities in the game, also they even resistant to knockbacks.BUT it comes a big price having pathetic mobility. They even get huge peneltaty at using jetpacks...
Lack of mobility worse than it first seems to be,playing few game making that clear.
They are very easily trapped with no way out.Very skill demanding class to use.Having the damage bonus only usable at open crowned games,so in 1vs 1 having serious disadvantage.

Class Balance suggestion:
One of the following scientist debuff:
-Scinetist cannot heal itself,it can only heal teammates
-Swap tha damage with scout

Thanks for reading.Open to hear others experiences.

I think heavy class is best against scientist, because you can destroy covering terrain pretty quickly with bigger explosions. But it depends about the situation and how open area landscape is.

My favorite worm classes are Scientist and Heavy.

I agree with your ranking of the worms classes, but the main thing that I wanted to comment on is your suggestions as to strategies when dealing with people who use scientists. I've used an all scientist team from the very beginning and I can conservatively say that about 75% of the matches I play end up being 2 or 3 players vs. me. I don't know if this is because I use scientists or if it is clear that I'm just a more skilled player than they are. Regardless, I do not think that it's good advice to recommend to ANYONE to form temporary alliances because that's a coward's move in my opinion. Yes, darksiding scientists can get high in HP, but teaming up is just plain lame in my opinion, especially if the people who are "teamed up" continue to attack the scientist team when their HP total is well below that of the other teams. I couldn't possibly recall the number of times that I've been singled out and killed off completely by 2 or 3 players.

On a related note, if people want to play team matches, they should make it official and just make proper teams rather than letting people believe that it's a free-for-all match when in reality it's not. There's a lot of noobs in Revolution (and Reloaded too) who team up and NEVER attack their friends. (Usually Russians and Brazilians.)

If we are talking about non-ranked then probably just two friend joined and they dont attack each other till unknown player taken out.
I know that this way of playing worms around since 3D worms games,in those if u choosen 3-4 player games it was always against two friends vs u,so a constant problem which follows worms.
There is not much to do about this other than that playing 1v1.

Still 4 player a game a war of attrition,at least the way I see it.
If I was forced to play a pure soldier team vs a pure scientist and other people only use one.My action would to wipe out scientist team since I know that if scientist stay to long ingame the whole match is lost for me.Its just common sense to not let scientist team to grow.

4 heavies + not being noob with rope = win

jetpacks are for noobs anyway

I think that heavies are worthless. Sure, they do more damage and travel less distance from being attacked, but the horrible speed / jumping aren't worth the increased damage. If you don't have ropes, what can you do? They are also awful when using jetpacks. Over the course of a match, the extra +5 HP per turn from a scientist is far better, especially if you have a full team of scientists. They also create stronger/better girders, sentry guns, plug holes, etc.

In my opinion, the only classes worth using in the game are scientists and soldiers, mostly for reasons that the OP listed.

Believe it or not some people are good at making ranged shots and not just dropping mines on people's heads.

Indeed, get some practice in with grenades then move onto bazookas, master those weapons and you will be laughing!! ;)

You have to be very skilled at ranged shots to survive with heavy and to make full use of its brutal damage.Thats rarely seen. Also by being very skilled I mean to make every ranged shot to count,in short 90% hit rate, few mistake and heavy in a situation where trapped and no way to turn match around having very bad mobility.

I know this. I'm good at ranged shots myself, and I still think that the heavy sucks. The only scheme in which the heavy makes even a shred of sense for me is fort mode, and since I don't play that noob scheme, the issue is largely moot.

Lack of mobility = death in Worms.

Amen to that.

Heavies isnt just damage, its bigger craters. An i want to add that they don't respond to water forces well either. They get flushed away easy.
I think the game is well balanced now, but perhaps scientist should only heal +3 or only friendlies not itself.

I think 3scientis and 1heavy or 4/4

Isnt it a cowerds move to only use scientists on your team?

In a word, no. It is personal preference based upon your own play style. I happen to be a tactical-minded darksider, so the scientist is great for me.
scowie Jan 17, 2013 @ 4:48pm
I like the idea of a scientist only healing team mates. I don't think it's damage should be swapped with scout though. Not being able to heal itsef would balance things out enough imo.

I prefer using one of each type in my games so that I can use the widely differing tactics that each class allows.
Aio Jan 18, 2013 @ 5:50am
everybody as scientist or heavy or soldier or scout theres no cowardice, its all strategy. i use 2 scientists 1 soldier and 1 heavy. you make your strategy based on your way to play. and yes if a player looks experienced id rather kill him than a noob whos unable to use even a rope

ps: im brazilian, i dont make alliances with friends i play ffall, fair play bb :)
