Before i buy

Is this game dead...
or do people still play?

A few people still play this,there are a few servers up and running where people play usually,but otherwise there is a very small amount of people who still play this.It is kind of dead,but if you don't want a whole lot of servers with people in them,this is good.It isn't so dead that no-one is playing it; it just doesn't have a load of players,like Team Fortress 2.

True.But there are times other servers are populated as well,but it is very scarce.

Ok,I wouldn't have gotten keys straight away but this game,but whatever sure.It is you're money after all.

People who don't want to play the game because it's almost dead is the main reason why it stays dead.

I take it you get all your info straight out of drippy's?
theres at least 3 or 4 servers in the US that can ALWAYS be seen with people online, theres an argentina server that occasionally fills up and theres also royston vasey for the EU players (I hope I didnt summon the trolls with mentions to the last one).

Of course theres always the less popular, but still fun skillmap servers, something you will NEVER get to experience in TF2, sure you can surf in TF2, but you can do that in just about any goldsrc/source server, concing, bhopping, nadejumping.. all of these things are unique to TFC, if you are planning on picking it up, you should get it to see all the things that were dropped in TF2 to fully understand why the game is referred to as a hat simulator instead of an actual game..

It's got 7 servers. These servers are almost always filled. There's a badass 4-team deathmatch server, 24/7 dustbowl, 24/7 2fort noob edition, and some other server with 350 maps. That's just the ones I've tried.

I just want an HD remaster of the first one that has a tutorial for bunnyhopping, I'm sure people would play it.
