Prince of Persia

Prince of Persia

Does Ubisoft "denies" this game?
I was looking for PoPs games in Ubi.com and I didn't found it.
On Ubi.com we can buy all Sands of Time series, even the olden. However this game isn't even listed. Does anyone know why?

Maybe an error in your regional shop. The german UPlay shop has it.

hmmm... thanks.

It's a bit of a black sheep, yeah.
The speed at which Forgotten Sands came out after the sales of this didn't meet expectations was insane.
Which is a shame since this is easily my favourite Prince of Persia.

Hm? I got THIS one because I was under the impression that the sands of time trilogy is older (and there was no collection).

Which is a shame since this is easily my favourite Prince of Persia.

I can't compare it with the trilogy, but one thing is for sure -- some of the fights might be annoying (the Warrior boss in particular), but this is definitely a game that wants to let the player progress. I don't even quite get the combat system yet (and I already have three of the four powers), but eventually things just die, for whatever reason.

Too bad Elika is (probably -- don't know yet) going to get killed off at the end -- either to blow up Arihman or whatever his name is, or because she's dead and must stay dead to keep the balance, or something like that. I could really use her in some other games too :-)
Maybe the balance in Persia can be kept if she's moved to another universe? She'll be gone either way... :-)

And sometimes I just jump into the wrong direction. But that's just me and my skills...

Still, I sometimes feel it's even more repetitive than similar games: enter corrupted area, proceed straight to fertile ground (as in "follow Elikas magic thingy. Everything else is blocked anyway, or doesn't matter yet"), chase boss away (I'm assuming there's a 'real' defeat in that 5th area, though -- haven't opened any of these yet), heal ground. Explore area to collect seeds. Rinse and repeat.

The Sands of Time trilogy IS older, you're right. It consisted of the original, then Warrior Within then Two Thrones.
After that (and a few years of no Prince) this came out, and didn't do great.
Shortly after there was Forgotten Sands, a convenient "forgotten" entry in the Sands of Time trilogy taking place between Sands of Time and Warrior Within.

The combat is my main gripe with the game for sure, but I agree with your other points as well. The structure of the game is very repetitive, I personally loved exploring the world though, and purifying each sacred ground just felt rewarding to me.

As for the story and its ending... I don't want to spoil anything, but I was personally very happy with how it turned out (even though some people disagreed).
Also, once you finish the game you unlock a costume where Elika looks like Beyond Good & Evil's Jade, which would have been a game seller for me already :D
Let me know what you think of the ending when you finish it, I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

I didn't finish the game yet. But I'm loving it.
The first impression was: the best PoP game since Sands of Time.

I hate Warrior Within. I read so many people saying it is the best prince-game, but it is the worse, IMO. I hate the prince-badass idea. The dark tone of the game, I hate it over anything. The Dahaka's persecution made me want to turn off the video-game. I hate the fact it has much more battles the puzzles. And there is a lot of things from the plot that I find weak.

I liked The Two Thrones, but it seems to be like "let's try to correct the mistake". Ubisoft did a great game, but the mistakes that came from the WW's plot was already done.

The Forgotten Sands is very good. But there was some details from the plot that I found weak too, and the ending is a piece of s***, the movents were so realistic that the Prince seems to be less fluid than he were on the Trilogy, and the game itself seemed to be just a repetition from an old formula.

But this game, until now, is freaking awesome. The story turns back to the Original Trilogy - where the Prince seemed to be just a guy. In fact, until this moment, this game seems to be a prequel to the original PoP. The movements are fluid. In this game we spend more time running and trying to figure out how we get in some place then fighting, just like the original PoP (it loved it). And I think the "no-die" thing it is satisfied for two reasons:

1st Some difficult sequence of movements that if we miss a single movement we need to back from where the sequence begins.

2nd In a battle, if Elika needs to save the Prince the foe will gets its health bar filled.

As I said before, I didn't finished the game yet. I hope it don't disappoint me.

-------I'm sorry for any errors on my writing, I still don't feel comfortable writing in another language.

Nope. No real defeat. It's very disapointing. The final boss battle isn't even with Arhiam.

For the 2nd one you are wrong on that. If Elika saves the Prince during a battle, there is a chance for the boss to regain health. 75% of the time they will regain health, but not all the time.

So I'm just 25% wrong. :P
