WHITE LIGHTNING Nov 1, 2012 @ 7:30am
Valve, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make source filmmaker for mac. I know that there are many, many people out there who play your fantastic games on a mac, but can't use source film maker. What makes me post this is that i really want to compete for a saxxy award this year, but i might not be able to because I have a mac, and currently Source Filmmaker does not support mac. People here and there, near and far, please help me and other mac users get source filmmaker so we can be in the running for a saxxy! As many people know, most film designers use macs for their great power, so adding source filmmaker would be great! I have a dream that hopefully by the end of the saxxy awards, that mac users will have source filmmaker, and we will be able to compete in the second annual saxxy awards, and possibly become champions.

Thank you

I dont think so its will be,its hard coded in some windows things and will be very hard to port it,its even lags on medium PCs that are better than average macs

In all honesty, I feel bad for the Mac users. Wasn't the Mac made for the purpose of creativity? And yet, SFM is nothing but that and Mac users can't use it. It's a shame, even though I'm a PC guy.

I can imagine after Valve finishes porting all their games and the source engine to linux they will start working in porting the SFM to Macs.

I hope so. Also, join the SFM for MAC group to support the cause!

it's not as simple as all that. it's a bespoke program created to run on the same systems that VALVe use to make their games.

it's still buggy as hell even on PC as everyone is using different configurations, imagine was a nightmare it would be to move to a totally different architecture

Well, seeing how it is still a beta it probably won't be ported for this years saxxies. If lady luck flicks her wand we might get a ported beta version for next years saxxies. Heck, it would be cool if they managed to put it on a smartphone.

Isn't there a Mac App that allows you to run Windows programs in a shell? (Something like Linux's Wine?)

IF I had money, I would donate to VALVe, just for them to make SF for mac. Seriously.

Source filmmaker should be for mac (saying that as a mac user) such as how source dedicated servers are Linus and windows but not mac
