Source Filmmaker

Hello! I've made a couple SFM works on my Father's computer, and now I want to make them on my own (Windows 7). When I launch it, the broswer "stops responding" and crashes. But sometime it doesn't, and I get to the main loadout (What you see if a map isn't loaded.) Then, when I load a map, IT STOPS RESPONDING and CRASHES! Please, can someone help me fix my problem?

I've been encountering the same problem. I used Source Filmmaker without encountering this problem for about a day and, the next day, I got this problem which would never go away. I can't even open any files. It just keeps crashing after I launch it and "stops responding". Please, Valve, I know it's not a problem with my computer because it worked well the first day. Please do something to fix this. I really want to participate in the Saxxy awards, this year. 3:

I just want the bug fixed so no one has to encounter it.

I know, especially with the Saxxy awards coming up. Tons of people won't be able to participate because their Source filmmaker crashes, even though it's technically not because their computer can't take it (My computer could handle it fine before it started randomly crashing constantly. XD)

I'm having the same problem, the fix I found so far was to delete the game\usermod\elements\Sessions folder, however you cant ever save your stuff that way

Yeah, I've tried that too... I hope they're seeing this.

Click the Windows Orb (Start Button), and type "Regedit" in the "Run" field.
If you're asked to give permission to allow it to run, say yes.
Expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER, Software, Valve, SourceFilmmaker
Right-click "NewSessionWizard" and select "Export" (this is to save your settings just in case). Save the file somewhere you can find it.
Right-click "NewSessionWizard" and select "Delete". Confirm you wish to delete it.
Launch SFM and hopefully you should be back to square one.

Do not try changing registry if you have never done so SFM is not worth wrecking you puter.
Congrats God of Trolldom on your success however.

Yeah, it may be better if we just wait it out, and hope Valve reads these.

It may take "awhile" but I'd choose that over a ruined computer.

I just spent over 2 hours working up a model for a new screen shot. I'm not quite ready to start producing videos yet.

Like most of us, I didn't save the session as I worked along... Of course, just as I put the last dampening effect to the lamp in the scene and was ready to make the render, BOOM!! HEADSHOT!!! SFM crashed to nothingness.

I know that this is a free program and that it is probably low on the maintainence priority schedule, but here is a suggestion to Steam for the next update to the project!!!! (if you're monitoring the threads here)

Please add an AUTOSAVE feature to SFM... or at least something that will allow us to grab the last session that we were working on. Film Maker must store some sort of temporary file somewhere that can be access to bring back recent session that have not been saved.

Love the program, huge learning curve, and a ton of possibilities...

I think it may have something to do with having windows 8,
But I would love to know if I'm wrong or not
