Can you replace a map's textures with the textures from the same map?
I have two version of one map. the only difference is the ground texture, the water texture and a few small structure textures are different. and one has tf 2 health and ammo pickups and doesn't have hdr.

I like the textures on the one that doesn't have hdr and has the pickups better. is there a way to replace the textures I want inside sfm without having to decompile and recompile both maps?

what's the deal with that tool called "propper" i have read people talking about? it converts "map brushes".. i assume that means the textures... to models which then allows you to tweak them however you please. Maybe that could be what you need?

edit: nvm.. after some initial searching, it appears propper doesn't work any longer after steampipe or something.

map brushes are models used on a map (i believe). like, say a chair, or desk, or stuff like that.

well in a really great recent example that i'm aware of.... the guy used Propper to alter the ground texture of a map to give it some Phong because he was doing a rain scene and the phong helped make the ground look wet.

seems really interesting from a quick read. Still not sure of its actually function.

so looks like it works from hammer, not SFM. Not what raptor is looking for.

But still could be useful for anyone looking to easily alter something within a map without having to recompile a new map i guess? It outputs a model of whatever you want then you just load the model in SFM and place it over the old section of where the model was created from.

Thats what it looks like. would be handy for extracting models from maps. but according to that article it's stopped working.

how do you add the phong to the ground
