TF2 Steampunk Models - Solved
Hey there. For some reason, I'm having difficulty making the TF2 Steampunk models show up. I took them from the Nopros folder they're packaged in and placed them in the respected folders in usermod.

They're packaged as such:

Nopro's Steampunk TF2 Characters>
materials>
models>
norpro>
individual character folders

models>
Norpro>
individual character files

Should I have left them in the Norpro folders, or taken the individual character folders/files and place them in the models and material folders in usermod as I have?

I've installed two custom models before; one for Miss Pauling and the other for the Administrator; both work perfectly fine.

I really hope that isn't super confusing; I just taught myself how to use SFM over the past couple of days, so I'm still very new. Thanks!

You should've left them in the norpro folders. Basically, whenever you get a download that contains a materials folder and a models folder, you simply copy those directly in a mod folder (like usermod, or you can create your own and add it to gameinfo.txt's load order section). It's important to keep the folder structure intact.

Okay, I'll go back and fix it, see if it works.

Do I combine the folders? As in if I go down to the materials and models folder, when it prompts me to combine the current and new matarials folder, do I?

Or do I leave EVERYTHING in the Nopro's Steampunk TF2 Cahracters folder, and drag that folder into usermod?

The first one, you merge the materials and models folders.

Okay cool! I'll try it now :D And if you can't find it, it's fine.

I just hope that I can teach myself Maya and make a formal Ms. Pauling model.

As he said, you keep the folder structure.

Generally, when you DL a model pack, it may be in it's own folder. For example often when you get a pack from garrysmod.org it'll be in a folder called addons. inside THAT folder are two more. Models and Materials (and sometimes lua, but you can ignore that). and you can take the models and materials folder, drag them into the usermod sfm folder and merge them.

so for you, if the structure is, that you got a folder called nopro, and inside that is a models and materials folder, then you just do the above, taking the models and materials folders and merging them with the folders of the same name in the usermod folder.

Wow, thanks for all the help guys! I've just taught myself the program, and I'm glad there is such a helpful community behind it!

And like I said, I'm going to try and make a formal Miss P. model for reasons. Shipping reasons. Scout/Miss P. shipping reasons. With Disney songs.

F*ck yeah Disney songs.
