SFM lagging when trying to animate a model
In sfm, whenever I select part of a model, SFM gets to 4-5 fps whenever I turned the camera towards it and when I move the model around. When I don't select anything, it's at 30 fps. This never happened before. Is this because of a new update or some settings I should change?

Btw, I lower the AO settings and Progressive refinement. When I move around the map, it's at 40-50 fps. And when I turn to my model I selected it's always at 5 fps.

First, don't disable progressive refinements, that doesn't help your framerate. They are only rendered on still frames, and only in clip editor mode. AO is indeed the very first thing you should disable if you have framerate issues, however.

The reason might be all the f-curves that appear on the timeline when you select a model. They may not look like much, but they're actually pretty demanding to render. Try only selecting the model's roottransform joint instead of the entire animation set, see if you get a better framerate then. though if it really only happens when your camera looks directly at the model, that might not be it.

Maybe the model has too many controls, or has a very high poly count, or too many / big textures. What model would that be, and what are your system specs?

If the model has an IK rig script loaded, that may weigh down your processor, especially if it has transform locks set.

Also bear in mind that SFM is still in beta, and is therefore prone to compatibility issues and memory leaks. Sometimes the framerate will drop below 20 for no apparent reason even on my rig, usually saving and restarting SFM fixes that. Could it also have been caused by an update? Yes, it's entirely possible.
