Solid Snake mouth glitch?
So, I downloaded the SSBB model pack for Garry's Mod. I decided to port it into SFM to do some MGS animations, but when I loaded Snake's model, around his mouth it was completely textureless and just looked black. The model worked fine in GMod. Is there a way to get rid of this, because it also happened on the model of Link from Brawl too?

There are a ton of SSBB packs in GMod, both through the website and through the workshop. Which pack is this and where did you get it?

Found the pack, working on solution

I've tried without ambient occlusion, Snake looks identical.

The pack is; http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=126051474&searchtext=ssbb

Yup, that's the pack I grabbed. Sorry Boss, I get the same thing happening in the jaw area and I have no idea why this is doing this. Even throwing light at it doesn't help. http://i.imgur.com/MI36eSd.png

The texture being used in that area is fit_snake_atarma and I see nothing wrong with the vtf or the vmt.

I decompiled the model and brought it into Blender to investigate, I skinned it there and everything works as it should. There are no doubles in the mesh, all the normals are pointed the right way, everything looks good. http://i.imgur.com/MgbI1Jp.png

I even checked the other vertex groups to see if there was an overlap, found nothing. Something must have went bad when the modeller compiled the model.

I suggest you find one of the other Solid Snake models and use that.

Thanks for the help, I've looked at the model itself as well on VTF edit. What I've found is that the black area above the face is the the problem, but I cannot tell why. I'm assuming it's the mapping of the textures, so if you know how I could change the mapping I believe that might help.

Once again, thank you for trying.

I had no luck with the model, unfortunately. However, there is a Big Boss model, but there is no mouth movement.

Use this to extract it for SFM -> http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1173875

Not sure, maybe you are running an outdated version of GMAD extractor? Try checking the thread for info, as it works for me.

EDIT: You may have not got a certain game mounted, like CSS or HL2:EP2.

This is a bug with models compiled with some old versions of StudioMDL - I'm not sure exactly what the cause is, but it effects models from the Sin Episodes and Dark Messiah games as well.

The only solution I know of at the moment is to decompile and recompile, but this might mess up certain flexes unless you spend some time in the QC. It's a real pain!

So how exactly can I decompile the Solid Snake model?
