How to fix the color change script, and sfmphys
since the last sfm update you may have noticed a few scripts stopped working. after much investigating the reason has been found.

Apparently, valve removed a bunch of files for python those scripts need to work. but not completely,

go to

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SourceFilmmaker\game\sdktools\python\2.7\win32\tcl

copy ALL the files and folders there. then go to

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SourceFilmmaker\game\sdktools\python\2.7\win32\Lib

(basically go back one and pick the other folder) and paste all the files from the tcl folder there.

that will fix the color change script (and possibly other issues as well, but that is unknown). to fix sfmphys you have to do all that, and a couple more steps.

first, grab the newest version from http://sfmbox.com/sfmphys/

then, grab this https://www.dropbox.com/s/qedogo76cvamwk9/phys_simulate.py

install this in

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SourceFilmmaker\game\platform\scripts\sfm\animset

that's it. it should work for you.

Thanks to Pte Jack and especially Doc from open source filmmaker for figuring this all out.

Because SFMbox was shutdown, get all the files from it fro here: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/bc9lx29swgyea/SFMBox%20Master%20Root#116homy37c7ma

sfmphys is actually on github, that is probably the best place to keep that updated. https://github.com/btdavis/sfmphys

That's where the creator will directly push their updates.

ok I just have one question which needs more clarification.

When it says::

copy ALL the files and folders there. then go to

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SourceFilmmaker\game\sdktools\python\2.7\win32\Lib

(basically go back one and pick the other folder) and paste all the files from the tcl folder there.

Where exactly do I place the files? In the Lib folder or another folder?

Thanks.

This might help I have version 2.7.6 of python not sure if that is causing the breaking of scripts or not.

EDIT:: I fixed it. I rolled back to 2.7.5 and copied the files over. Thanks.

just highlight everything in the tcl folder, then open the Lib folder, rightclick any empty spot and select paste.

SFM ships with it's own python folder. Having the full version of python on your computer should not matter. SFM doesn't search for it.

That being said, I'm not sure this has to be done anymore since the last update. The tcl folder is no longer just tcl like it was before the update. It's tcl8 and tcl8.5, Valve may have already fixed the problem. (that being said, I haven't run any of the scripts since the update.)

The old fix was to copy the contents of the tcl folder into the lib folder (which was one level up from the tcl folder). Now that the structure of the tcl folder has changed, I'm not sure what to copy where, or if it is even required anymore.

Thanks! Does this work on python version 2.7.5 or 2.7.6?

Okay, thanks! I'll take a look at it and post my findings here.

2.7.5 works with scripts if you tag the files over.

2.7.6 does not work with the scripts. Hope this helps anyone else that wanted to know about 2.7.6.

Thanks everyone! :)

Did you tag the files over with 2.7.6?
