The medic_gasmask.mdl is one of those models that appears to be invisible. Not sure why, but, in order to make it visible you have to edit the materials vmt file.

Here is how you do it,

go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SourceFilmmaker\game\tf\materials\models\player\items\medic and find the medic_gasmask.vmt file.

Open that up in a text editor (I prefer notepad ++ but in this case the microsoft notepad will do.)

Find the line "$detailblendmode" 6 and place 2 // in front of it to comment out the line so the line looks like this

// "$detailblendmode" 6

Save the file and make sure the extension did not change to .txt (You should be asked if you want to replace the file when you save it.)

Go back into SFM and go to the console screen and type, mat_reloadallmaterials (then press enter)

Once that finishes, go back to the viewport and move the playhead to reestablish the materials.

If the mask is lost somewhere in the map, in the animation set edtor, lock the root_transform from the medic to the root_transform of the mask, also lock the bip_head from the medic to the bip_head of the mask, now select the mask and zero it by moving the zero slider from left to right. This should pull the mask to the medic and place it on his face.

You should now be able to see the mask on the medic.

If you follow the steps in this guide, it will put ALL the TF2 assets into SFM. (Including the ones JUST released)

Thank you so much pte jack :#
I know this is way too late and already solved one, but I founded one maybe most hilarious and simple way to solve this invisible gasmask model problem, not sure if it work with you and rest of other models because I just recently found this solution, but when you spawn the model and see this problem:

right click it and choose "show in element viewer"

then select "model"

then under of the model name there is "Skin"

select it and type 1 then it should appear

I'm not sure does this trick work on you or does it work on all invisible models, but atleast that gasmask appeared on me and I tried on some other models, also it will make all item appear as BLU team colours and some will disappear when you move workcamera or any other camera far from it and when moving the model itself it may just flicker the colours and visibility little bit, but just move around until it got the right one.

Also if you do this step before you attach and zero it to your model, it may disappear again, but set skin to 0 and 1 again it'll suppose to appear again, you can also color it without it being disappearing.

Once again, I just recently found this solution, so I will not promise it'll work for everything and on everyone, but it is very simple way to fix it.

I hope this was help on someone who is on hurry and want to make quick fix on problem.
