No ValveBiped.Weapon_bone on my models
I'm trying to do an animation where a Half Life 2 character is running holding a gun, but when I try to get the gun into the perons hand, I look in the "Unknown" section of the persons models, and there is no bone called "ValveBiped.Weapon_bone". Can someone help me please?

Look under Other not Unknown for the main weapon bone... It's called weapon_bone, not ValveBiped.Weapon_bone in most cases

I'm using Half Life 2 models, and there isn't a Others tab

So, what I do in this case is lock (always from character to weapon) RootTransfer to roottransfer, R-Hand to R_Hand or L_hand to L_hand and anim_attachment_RH or LH to the weapon_bone (of the weapon)

Zero the weapon, then unlock the weapons, make adjustments into the hands properly, close fingers around stocks and pistol grips, final adjustments then relock everything.

What's the gun you want him to hold, by the by?

trying to make him hold an smg, and use the smg firing sequence.

I re-lock the smg but when I play the sequence the smg doesn't move with the guy's hands. When the animation starts, the smg does'nt follow the hand movements of the person holding it

HL2 weapons are locked to the character's hand directly, they don't have a dedicated weapon bone. Here's the simplest way to get it right:

1- Import w_smg1.mdl.
2- Drag the character's "Arms > ValveBiped.Bip01_R_Hand" bone onto the SMG's "Body > rootTransform" bone.
3- Fully apply the Zero filter on the SMG's "Body > rootTransform", "Arms > ValveBiped.Bip01_R_Hand" and "Unknown > ValveBiped" bones (NOT "Unknown > ValveBiped.Weapon_bone", you have to leave this one alone).

That should work.

it didn't work all the way, when I zero in the slider al the way, the hand holding the trigger is going through the gun, all I had to do was unlock the smg, pose it and re-lock it.

Yeah...

There must be something you did wrong, it works flawlessly for me... You sure you locked the gun to the hand bone, and you zeroed all of the SMG's bones except the last one?

By selecting all but the last one. Or doing it one by one.
