Phonemes don't work with Demoman!?
I'm getting this error when trying to extract phonemes for the demoman:

Animation set 'demo1' missing preset group 'phoneme'

How do I fix? I can't finish my project without him! :(

You must be using a player model, watch this to learn how to find out..

Or did you come in from a gamemode scene and try to replace the demo with a hwm?

I was using the HWM models, I didn't know that the Demoman had issues with phonemes on his HWM.

I imported a model, he didn't come from playing.
By the looks of the video, that's what I did. I imported an HWM model of Demoman and did as shown, it gave me that error. I can try a regular player model later I guess.

Yeah, that's what I've been using... I'll put them side by side tomorrow like in the video and see if I can work it out. Thanks!
Alright, I put an HWM demoman next to a game model Demoman and got this:

Hmmm. not sure why that is happening. You can either try to import a phoneme set from another character or revelidate your cache files to refresh any corrupted files. MaxofS2D has a video on importing phonemes here

I saw that video, it looked a bit difficult. I'll try validating and if that doesn't work I'll attempt that...
I was able to work around this by extracting the phonemes to the scout then copying his samples to demoman. I just modified how it looked slightly and now it's fine. It would be nice if I could figure out how to fix this though. :/
