Don't worry SFM would on your laptop but do not expect high quality graphic on your video

since you have intel graphics it may not work to well. source (the engine sfm and valves games run on) doesn't like intel very much.

What they said... You may find that while you work in it you may have a white diagonal line in the viewport or your renders may have a diagonal white line running through them. Do a search in the discussions for the fix. It has been discussed here quite a bit.

it's typically worse then that. usually it disables hdr on all maps.

though i wonder. if you animate something on such a comp and you transferred the save to one that works fine will it render normally? I have been considering taking on a major project and a friend offered to help but his desktop has an intel card. was wondering if he could animate thing and i could render.

I use sfm on my Samsung 700t tablet which has similar specs to your laptop, I recommend using it to animate but not to render

Yes, that'd work, as long as you have all the content used in the video.

Intel HD4000 is pretty weak, so you might be fine for animating/posing (for posters) - but rendering, even in 720p, will be pretty slow. It's worth a try, but I wouldn't expect great results, unfortunately.

well at least intel 4000 graphics is better than intel 3000 hd graphic, lol.

btw, you don't have a "total of 5ghz", your dual cores run at 2.5ghz... but it's not additive.
