No radial lights?
Is it just me, or does SFM lack any sort of radial light sources?

You mean point lights? Besides the static map ones, it doesn't look like it. I thought it strange at first, too.

The reason why i want an omnidirectional light source is to have an object glow as if it were a magical artifact.

Source Filmmaker allows you ro have as many lights as you want, the only problem there is that only 6 can produce shadows (I think it is). For an omni-directional light, could you not take 4 or so lights and pin their root transforms together, zero them then rotate them to the angles you want the light to shine? Make them volumetric to produce the aura. Kind of like this

By locking the transforms to 1 lamp, it is easy to pin/lock the master transform on an object and have the others follow it as the object moves. Also, each light can have a different colour, with the volumetrics turned on, those colours may blend to produce a magical aura affect.

The other thing you could try is to make a particle system to create the effect that you are looking for. (If you want the Magical Item to make a sparkle effect, this would be the better option)

Just a suggestion...
