"Writers" Block
Hello, anyone having this problem coming up with ideas? I've been sitting here looking through a lot of maps trying to come up with ideas, but just can't... Any tips to "fix" this? -.-

My only tip to you is to play a game and think outside its lore. That makes for interesting videos. Also sometimes there doesn't need to be a linear story, maybe just random ♥♥♥♥. (ie: Team Fabulous 2, Team Flatulance 2 etc.)

I had this problem 6 months ago, except I had a different approach to writers block. I simply forced myself into writing more and more. If you're creating a story, first think of the theme,
main character(s), locations then write your script around that. For example when I started on my project my theme was loneliness, my characters were the Spy and Heavy, and my location was 2fort. Then I wrote a script around those 3 things. Also, if you can take a real life scenario and apply it to a video game, that'll set you up for a good story, too. However, that's just how I approached it, there's probably more ways if you look it up on google or whatever.

You need to stimulate your mind. While you are probably making videogame related material, sitting around staring at your computer and messing around in games isn't the best idea. Go outside and take a nice long walk. Go out and grab a bite to eat with some friends.

Sitting in the same chair staring at the same screen all day is always going to end up making your ideas grow stale.

Sit down and design a poster.. Anything will do. Then create another. Now, think of one of them as a start point and the other an end point. Animate to join the dots...

Listen to music you like, pretend it's the soundtrack of a film. What would that film look like? Adapt that idea until it's feasible to make within SFM.

I do this all the time for fun (even though I scrap 99% of the concepts).

ask someone to just "give you an idea"

then animate it
down to the letter

I don't really like asking for ideas. I like to try to come up with my own for some reason. :/

don't think i really agree with this notion. All my ideas always come to me when my brain isn't being otherwise stimulated. By that i mean, when i'm at work. Something about monotonous manual labor that requires no thought at all really allows ones' imagination to run wild.
