Recording doesn't work
I have spent plenty of time searching for a fix to this issue, and have found a few posts regarding it, but no solutions thus far.

I know I have a decent enough computer, that isn't the issue.

Reproduction steps:
Basically, trying to learn SFM and following the Valve video tutorials exactly is how I ran into this problem.

The actual issue:
I set everything up, loaded map, work camera in place, etc.
Then I try pressing record. The usual context window comes up, but the title box for the demo is greyed out, then it lets me type in it as soon as I change another option in the window, I'm not sure why.
Then I try recording, and suddenly the game window switches to the main menu of TF2. I hear the beeps, it actually does record somehow. I know this because I just open the console in the game window and load the map I wanted to record in, and it loads the map and records, but the player model is missing still.

Additional technical information:
I checked the console afterwards, and I can see it disconnected me from the local server, saying "disconnected by user", although I can't quite identify the cause of the sudden drop.
Another thing in the console I noticed that may be related, is that it said it couldn't find the .dem file, or something similar to that. I thought this might mean it might not have write access to the folder? It may be nothing, but it seemed like something worth noting.

Steps already taken:
I've already attempted to verify the integrity of my cache, I've uninstalled the application for the moment, have not tried re-installing yet, I didn't think a re-install would be my best option at this point, since it's obvious and most likely won't change a thing, but who knows? (Attempting to re-install right now, we'll see.)
EDIT: Re-installed and, forced allowing write access to SourceFilmmaker folder and all subfolders (if that actually did anything) still not working at all.

Other pertinent information:
•Installed Steam folder onto B: drive instead of usual C: drive, as such, my directory is B:\Steam\steamapps...etc (I doubt this would make a difference, but maybe it assumes a certain folder structure? Obviously it's far from a stable program.)
•No custom content used when trying to follow Valve video tutorial.
•I've also tried using different beta (and non-beta) versions of SFM, to no avail.

Before you reinstall it, you have to uninstall it the proper way:

as for the recording issue, I apologize, I have no idea whats causing it.

25 minutes to tell people the most obvious way to uninstall things on Steam? Thanks, but I'm not mentally challenged, please don't post things like that on this thread again.

25 minutes is really nothing in comparison to how long your probably spending trying to fix this issue, and the real issue here seems to be your impatients and egoistic responses to situations and helpful suggestions.

I'm impatient because I specifically said not to respond telling me how to uninstall the game, because I've already done it.

1.You didn't specifically say that at all.
2. The video is to help people understand that you need to remove SFM from your registry, not just regularly uninstall it.

If I say I've already uninstalled it, it's obvious I clearly don't want you to suggest I try to do it. You keep posting useless nonsense in here, thank you for wasting my time.

No problem, good luck.

Jeez, Sharky, chill out. Sarsour was just trying to help. If you can't appreciate that, you should forget about using forums altogether.

Now, in the off-chance you actually do want someone to help, I've got your answer: don't type anything in the "Choose Dem" field.
