[Mem: Red Text] What does it mean?
The [Mem: ####.##MB| at the bottom bar's numbers is colored red. What does it mean?

I think it's the amount of memory that SFM is hogging at the the time it refreshes. Confirm this by opening the Task manager and look at the amout of physical memory and disk memory that sfm is using. If it is red, you may have a problem... It may mean that you don't have much left.

I had that problem too and it closed without warning after staying red for a while. I now save everything and restart sfm when it gets to that point.

On a 32-bit OS you have to be careful not to let this number go above 2000 or so, otherwise SFM will become very slow, and potentially crash. Here's a tip on keeping your memory footprint as low as possible: When importing a model or a sound effect, don't scroll through the list. SFM loads every element you highlight, and doesn't dump it from memory afterwards. Know the name of the element you want to use, and don't click on unnecessary ones. If the footprint gets high, you can do as mlisty2 suggests, save and restart SFM.
