plr_hightower_event Added to the Maplist?
I just had the idea to make a sort of Halloween collab for this year in SFM and using the replay editor. Sadly I just discovered that the map plr_hightower_event (Helltower) is not added yet to the list. So I tried just stealing it from my TF2 directory but no, the textures and models from the new Scream Fortress update are missing. Could anybody give me a hand here?

Ok, the pl_hightower_event map is in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf\maps folder and although it takes a bit of time, will load. Thaere are missing models, textures and particles. You'll have to ferret through the TF_Misc_dir, TF_Textures_dir, TF_Sounds, .vpk files to find these. For example, some of the missing models can be found in the TF_Misc_dir.vpk under the tf\models\props_hightower_event folder, you would extract this to either the games\tf\models or the usermod\models folder. Missing material Vmt files are in the tf_misc_dir.vpk file under the materials\models\props_hightower_event folder and the VTFs would be found in the tf_textures_dir.vpk under the materials\models\props_hightower_event folder.

I would suggest extracting all the particles from the tf_misc_dir.vpk file by extracting the particles and put them into your game\tf folder. Same for sounds from the TF_Sounds_misc_dir.vpk file.

Can I simply extract these files into my folders or do I need to copy them into a new .vpk file in order for the engine to actually read them?

sfm doesn't read vpks (as of yet). so they would have to be placed in a folder in sfm anyway.

Sorry I should have said, you need GCFScape 1.8.4 to extract the VPKs

I can't get it to work. All the files are inconveniently placed and named. The weird thing is, only half the props are errors. The other half does show up (pumpkins, towers, spikes). I can't find the right models though. SFM tells me what he is missing in the console, but I have no idea where to find them. Valve better give us that map quick...

The clock is missing everytime it should tick, the entire haunted house is missing, the lavatextures and the electric vridge+beam is missing, the spellbooks are missing (but I didn't want those in) and the entire Hell place is pretty much empety.

To extract the models and materials properly, follow this. I did it for the MvM models, but the process is exactly the same... By extracting the whole pack, you should get everything...

You need GCFScape 1.8.4 to extract the files from the VPKs.

Edit:

To get the map, you have to copy the plr_hightower_event.bsp file from the SteamApps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf\maps Folder to your SourceFilmmaker\game\tf\maps folder

Yikes, I was afraid I had to extract ♥♥♥♥ for that awfully long. Well I can't be bothered with that now but thanks anyway.

Thing about GCFSacpe is that you can load 4 instances of it and extract all 4 {filename}_dir.vpk files at the same time. but yes, extracting the 4 of them them completely, your extracting over 60,000 files, also if you placed any edited files into the tf folders, you'll overwrite them.
