How to set Golden materials properly ?
Hello, so basically I'm having this issue:
I want to make a weapon which has its golden counterpart, well, golden, but:

if I try to set the material with the Override Materials option, the model doesn't change its material, let's say for example I want a golden blackbox, its material is in models\weapons\c_items\c_blackbox.vmt
the golden material is c_blackbox_gold.vmt
I can't find a way to apply such materials on the items, the only way I found is to rename the golden material (removing _gold and leaving just c_blackbox.vmt) but that way EVERY blackbox has the golden material on and it has also a glitched sheen, I'm attaching this screenshot to show you how my golden blackbox looks like.

Same thing happens with the wrench, but even if I rename gold_wrench.vmt to v_wrench.vmt, it doesn't change.

you can just change the skin on most of the weapons to 3 or 4
these skins should be golden
Unfortunately the "skin" for these weapons isn't editable for me

it's like greyed out
I just tried with another weapon that has its golden counterpart (the SMG), changed the skin as you said but nothing happened.

I dunno if the austrialium weapons actually are reskins, or separate models.

they are reskins, but you will have to manually update sfm to get them

Why are you using the element editor to try and select skins?? Just right click the weapon and select the skin

How did you get the Black Box golden like that to begin with?

You can change the skin of the blackbox to gold if you have manually updated your game.
I simply renamed the file "c_blackbox_gold.vmt" and "c_blackbox_gold.vtf" in "c_blackbox.vmt" and "c_blackbox.vtf" making first a backup of the original ones, so the Source Filmmaker, looking for the file "c_blackbox.", used those, although what I think is the sheen of the golden weapon, is glitching (you see the purple & black thing over it ?? Well, that !!!) and dunno how to fix it.

Although there is another issue: since I forced SFM to load the golden material by renaming it, I can't have in the same scene a normal blackbox and the golden one, which is what I want !!!
Just watched it, doesn't talk about the golden materials and everything he says I already know (how would I have those materials and models if I didn't know how to extract my .vpk files in my SourceFilmmaker/game/tf/ directory ???)

Well... Just do waht he does in the video, then when you find the ambasador/blackbox etc, model, just change their skin via the animation menu

You said that you wanted the Gold and original Black Box in the same video. Adding the new models and materials from the VPK file will allow you to do that. As the FMK says, you just select the skin on the model. You don't have to rename anything. As for the sheen, we're still trying to figure that one out. The last time I tried, it didn't render.

yes, but even though I managed to get the golden skin on the blackbox, nothing in that video helps me to solve the issue with the sheen !!! I still have the purple & black missing texture glitch over the golden material like in my screenshot.
Also I want to add some helpful information.

There is NO "Skin" for models such as hats, props and weapons, the "Skin" thing is ONLY on the characters models and on the models that already have inside several skins, TF2 weapons DO NOT have inside several skins, otherwise I'd already solved that at the beginning, no ?!?!

Not really, because when I extract again the files from my TF2's .vpk files, they OVERWRITE and the original c_blackbox.vmt/vtf, takes the place of my modified c_blackbox.vmt/vtf, which I remember you that originally was c_blackbox_gold.vmt/vtf and I renamed it to make SFM think to load the original file instead of the _gold variant.
