model problems

[Wubba lubba dub dub!!!]

I downloaded models and I tried copying the material and models folder to the sfm file. the model file didnt even copy and the material kept showing up empty. I tried going into the material folders and putting the models in the folder myself but they dont show up. Ive seen others use the same models. what gives?
