Can't see particles in SFM
Im trying to add the particle called "asplode_hoodoo_burning_piece" wich is found in "dirty_explode.pcf".

I can see it in the particle editor tool, but when I add it to my scene, it won't show up, i've tried to change start time, duration etc.

How do I fix this?

This may or may not help, but did you try moving the time slider out of the shot you were in?

Try pressing f11 and then pressing it again this reloads everything I do this so my particles actually appear.

I did this, but none of it works.

Have you moved your camera around to see if you can see them? Particles spawn either directly on or slightly behind the camera. Move the playhead off the clip then back on to initiate a particle. Also, how did you set it up. if you used a Start at 0 and 60 60 for the run and desolve times chance are that you are missing it when you move your playhead. some particles are fast and only fire once. Make sure you're looking in the right place at the right time.

I have moved the particle around to where I wanted it to be, and the particle I am using is the same all the time in the particle editor.

My time is from 0-99.

asplode_hoodoo_burning_piece is one of those particle systems that always draw at the map's 0 0 0 coordinates no matter where you actually place it. That's because it was never meant to be used on its own, it's a child of asplode_hoodoo. There's gotta be a way to edit it so it draws in the right spot, but I haven't really looked into it yet.

What explosion particles can then be used and moved around like a model?

I have tried multiple particles, but they all do this thing :/

I know your pain dude, none of my particles appear, it's like they're just invisible, no where, not behind, not high-up, not set outside of the time, it's just not there at all, but it does say that it's placed, like I can move it, but it's not there.

Did you move the playhead outside of the active shot and back? Also, what particle systems are you using, specifically? Like I said earlier in this thread, some are not meant to be used on their own and will not work properly.

I used AM's blink1, doesn't appear anywhere. As for the other particules I've tried (Pudge's rot, Chaos Knight's bolt1 or something), it worked by moving the playhead. Thanks for that btw!

So, if some particles aren't meant to be used on their own, then how do we utilize it? Totally new to SFM. Help appreciate.

A bundle of love,
Walker

this is definitely some kind of bug in SFM that i frequently encounter. Sometimes, i will have particles that were previously working fine before, then one day i'll load up my project and they will have all disappeared.

A trick i have discovered that 'sometimes' brings them back... simply create a new additional animation set of the same disappeared particle. That's it. Then for some reason my particles show up again, and i delete the new one i just created since i don't need it.

You don't have to create the animation set, just load the PCF file. Once the particle definitions have appeared in the drop down menu, you can simply hit cancel and the particles should be "fixed".

This bug used to happen to me, on my old computer. Oddly enough since I switched to my new machine it hasn't happened once. Go figure...
