Custom models and pre made custome models
ive been trying to make a oc for an animations but i cant seem to get things to work , evey model.qc i try to compile gives me this message:
ERROR: c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\sourcefilmmaker\game\usermod\custom\Aloeblossom.qc(3): - could not load file 'F:\Nikon tiedostot\projects\source\ponies/bodies/reference_rarity.smd'
ERROR: Aborted Processing on 'VN_Aloeblossom.mdl'

with every model i try. did i miss a step?

make sure this folder exists
F:\Nikon tiedostot\projects\source\ponies/bodies/
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ doesn't look right
and that the file
is there, (hint, you may have exported it as a dmx file)

The path has to point to where the smd lives.

ok my Model.smd is in : C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SourceFilmmaker\game\usermod\Custom
i tried changing my $cd to the same and my $model (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SourceFilmmaker\game\usermod\Custom\ponies_source\ponies_source\bodies/reference_rarity.smd'

still with error megages

If the source files are in the same folder as the QC, you can delete the $cd line altogether, it's not needed.

i have no clue , please forgive my ignorance , i know about animating , ive never gone past that point. what i do know is that the qc and (if they require a reference body) are in seperate folders , i loaded the untextured (got the standard purple n black checker pattern for texture) template model which compiled .... i just need a more concise tuturial (sorry for misspelling)

I see your problem right off the bat...

This is the start of your qc.

You've unzipped the pony source to a location on your hard drive but haven't edited the qcs to match. You're using the original qc straight from the pack.

Without knowing where everything is in relation to the qc vs smd files, I can't help you.

the entire pony source zip file and male ver was originally downloaded and unpacked on dexktop i moved these files to Sourcefilm Makers/ game / usermod and made a folder named custom in which they now are. < are you perhaps saying i should delete the unzipped files , and re-unpack into their current location ?

Bad idea. Source files don't work in SFM, they have to be compiled.
The pony source is a bunch of files that ppl use to create their on OC. You unpack the source files to a folder somewhere on your computer then use them in a program like blender to create your own. If you are looking for the pony pack that is already compiled for use in SFM, this is not the file you are looking for to extract to SFM.

Give me a couple of minutes to find the compiled stuff.

But if you want to compile these source files, I extracted it to t a folder called


to get things to compile, I had to change my $cd line to

$cd "C:\Users\PteJack\Desktop\xna-smd\ponies_source"

in each pony qc file.

The rest of the qc should be fine.

When they were changed, I drag and drop them onto the studiomdl.Bat file located in the sourcefilmmaker\game\bin folder and the compile process should produce the pony in the proper usermod folder. BUT, the Pony Source file doesn't include materials. so, when it finishes, and I don't have the materials in the proper materials folders, the models will be black and purple checkerboarded until I install the materials correctly.

This is the fileSmelt download... for the entire pack. These are the ones that are already compiles and ready for use in SFM, they also have all their materials.

i dont actually care much about the other ponies i just wanted an Orginal Charecter for my animations, you know like a personal touch , a signiture .

You don't even need blender unless you plan to edit the model to make custom manes or tails. use the ponies source files. here is a tutorial for it.
