[RECRUITMENT] Jump Academy
Good morning/evening/whatever, SFM community!

I'm here to talk about a huge project my team and I are working on, and we're looking for talented SFM movie makers to help us.

The project

We're about to raise the first Jump Academy ever : through a dedicated website, Jumpers (from TF2) from all around the world will be able to follow jump classes led by pro or semi-pro jumpers.

Instead of looking for random TF2 players on jump servers, the students will have the opportunity to get advices from the best jumpers through our community!

More details on these links :

Why do we need SFM Movie Makers ?

The success of the project mainly depends on one single thing : communication.
We think that jump movies and SFM movies can help us spreading the word.

With awesome SFM movies, the project will get known and people will have a clearer idea of what service we provide. Moreover, another category of person will be aware of the project.

How can I be part of the team ?

If you feel like working for us, leave a message here or contact our recruiter :

You'll have to take a test to see if you can collab with us.
Good luck to everyone!

Hey sir, thanks for your interest in the project. Unfortunately I'm afraid you won't have the level to create what we want, we're looking for advanced movie makers. Keep working thought and good luck with your creations!

You guys take rocket jumping seriously, don't you?
So why come to the SFM community? If you just want footage of people rocket jumping, why not record demos in TF2?
Weap0wned Mar 6, 2014 @ 4:43pm
Because demos won't be able to provide the videos we want. SFM movie makers and usual jump movie makers don't do the same job, that's why we need both, and for the moment we're looking for SFM movie makers to create trailers/intros of the project.

I may be up for this project. How well can you consider my animation skills? I honesty do not have an "animation reel" yet, so it might be a little bit more difficult to judge my capabilities. I'm a wannabe character-animator, but I hadn't mastered run cycles and more complicated animations yet. I'm also looking for constructive feedback on my work... so if I do end up being a little short, I would like to know why~

If you would like to consider me to be a part of this though, feel free to give me some information related to what you would want me to do. I'll consider from there c: I cant gurantee that I would actually be able to be a part of this though! I tend to be quite busy nowadays.

Edit: Here is my YT channel. I put most of my finished animations there.

Well, not everybody is James McVinnie or MaxOfS2D...

Well, I would gladly help, but I don't know how effectiv a "rocket jump" academy would be. The concept is fairly simple so I don't know if you need an academy for "rocketing jumping". However, if you would like to, make a more extensive TF2 academy and I would gladly make a video. After coming from animation/3d modeling programs such as maya, Sourcefilm maker is child's play haha. I would gladly help you guys out, but only if you are willing to do more than rocket jumps or explain to me why a rocket jump academy is so important. I did notice you have a lot of people in your group, but I am still unsure as to whether your academy can get big enough for just one thing. Either way, please respond because I would like to here your end of this discussion.

Hey guys, thanks for your feedback!

@Etmer the Sentry : your videos are pretty good, and I'm glad that you're interested in the project! Feel free to add the Jump Academy Recruiter so that we can discuss about an eventual collab together.

@GentleCat : I know that, thanks. I am not looking especially for SFM pros with 1000+ hours on SFM, I'm just looking for movie makers who fit with our expectations to advertise our project.

@Cheesy Poofs : that's actually a very good question. At the beginning, it was really just "an idea", nothing more. It has been two months that I started to work on the project, think about how it would be composed of, what we really need etc.
Jump Academy isn't just a Steam Group or an idea, it's a brand new and powerful project, mainly supported by an upcoming website on which a webmaster and webdesigners are working on, it's also 5 jumping servers and a rising community, but most important it is a innovative concept.
On the website, there will be jump classes, where teachers post what they want to teach, and where students follow the classes they are interested in. A whole team is working behind this project, for the moment people are not aware of the project, that's why we contacted the SFM community.
Word-a-mouth isn't enough efficient. SFM movies will make people hear about the project, even if they are not current jumpers. I have no doubt that the community concerns 2000+ people at least, but thanks to the system we are creating, more people will have access to jump.
That's a huge bet, but with a solid team behind, the project has no reason to fail. To conclude, we would really enjoy working with you, so if you can add Jump Academy Contact we would be pleased to talk with you.
