Profile Picture Help?
Hi! So I have recently made art for my new profile picture and I would like to know how to apply it. Every time I try it says "Image Missing!" So I am asking the SFM community for help. Also since I have windows 8 and figured out that I can't convert a file that's .JPEG into .JPG I simply use paint to save my art as the Screenshot and it saves as the .JPG screenshot. but here it is. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=222335011

To convert a JPEG into a JPG in windows 8, JUST CHANGE THE JPEG EXTENTION TO JPG. they are the same format. So, go into file explorer, point to your {filename}.JPEG, right click and rename, change .JPEG to .JPG hit enter. Done...

I think the problem might be that the resolution is too high. The resolution is 1080 so i'm gonna bring it down to 720 and see if that works.

I also use inches not pixels. I find them easier to use.

One of the things about Profile pictures is that they are square, your upload should be making your picture to meet that. I think the max is 184x184 pixels. If you try to load anything larger than that or not sqare you're going to get warping.

So I got it. But now it's very pixelated. I'll have to see what I can do about that.

I don't think theres a resolution requirement. Is there?

My attempts are not working the way I thought they would.

But I did say I just wanted it as my profile pic right? thanks guys.

There may not be a limit on size, but if you upload one that is nor square and is larger the 184x184 it is going to skew the quality of the avatar. My profile pic was a 1920x1080 poster, I resized that to 512 wide and chopped the the square I wanted from that. I then scaled the square to 184x184 and uploaded that.

If you look at the stock avartars offered, you'll find that they are 184x184.

If you want a clear avatar, you can't have the entire poster unless you create it square straight from SFM

I would do that but I would need the right equipment so I'll leave it the way it is. (Also I just got this computer so I don't know most of the functions yet.)

For everyone's information, in an update, Valve added auto-resizer for uploaded images (happens to me atleast. Just uploaded a 1024x768 image, and didn't need to resize). So that's good.
