Two persistant [rendering] problems
OK, first of all, when I try to export any clip over 30 seconds, the video files doesn't work. What I mean is, when I try to open it, it says it can't be read.

Second, I only have the option to use the video type *.avi, I used to only have *.wmv, but after installing the recommended QuickTime, it gave a worse format, not more formats.

Any help out there?

Don't use AVI, it's barely compressed and often doesn't even work. Export as a PNG image sequence, and follow Lemonader's instructions in this thread: http://steamcommunity.com/app/1840/discussions/0/864969481773034807/

.wmv? I've never heard of that being an option.

I don't have wmv... Have you added a Codec pack to Windows???

@R234 I'll take a look-see. Thanks! Also, I'm going to compile it in Sony Vegas Pro 12 as *.mp4 or *.wmv. to upload it.
@PTE Jack Yeah I did have it, don't know how, but I thought everyone had it (?).

No, it's like MP4, I believe the initial codec that ship with SFM are AVI and MOV, that's it that's all. If you have Quicktime installed, it adds MP4. Now in your case and you have wmv, you've added some program or a codec pack that SFM has picked up on and gives you the option to render WMV. I wish you knew what you did to get it. If you have Vegas installed, I wonder if that is what did it??? hmmmm

In that case I wonder if he has GoToMeeting installed on his machine???

Funny, I don't have *.mp4 OR *.mov. I now just have *.avi. I had *.wmv, but it's gone now?!?!

Ok, Heinrick, do you have Quicktime loaded on your machine. If not, download the Free version and install. Reboot your machine and you should have .mov and mp4 available for rendering.

I have installed QuickTime. Now all I have is *.avi.

Reboot the machine... It has to register

If you're doing the final output in Vegas then export an image sequence. It's trouble free and perfect quality. What more could you want? .TGA will actually render faster then .PNG and there's no difference in quality between the two.

Oh? That's good to know XD

Really? I always thought .TGA was a bit more pixelated then png or even jpeg?
