Windows 10 is out guys!!!! Time to test our SFMs...
I am putting my bet that it will be about the same as it already is.

Still waiting my turn to start the download... (WHAAAAA!)

Still don't understand why anyone would want an OS or a console day one. Granted they do provide a valuable service. like minesweepers, or mine canaries.

I generally just stand back and wait for someone to put out the fires.

Heh, yeah, same here.

One question that's been puzzling me though, and that nobody seems to care about for some inexplicable reason; do you need to format your computer to upgrade from 7 to 10? I really don't wanna have to reinstall all of my stuff, so if I do need to, I'll probably just wait it out and get 10 when I buy a new comp.

Not sure about 7, but ppl on 8 have to upgrade to 8.1 then up to 10 from what I've heard. Those on 7, I'd suggest making backup "Just incase" you have to do a clean install instead of an update. Much the same as it was going from XP/Vista to 8.

Yeah... I'll just wait for somebody else to potentially figure it out the hard way in my stead :P

I've already reformat my PC last week and definitely don't want to do it again when installing Windows 10.

Had no problems with it yet. You might have some issues with the video drivers but you just need to reinstall them. And remember you will basically be an NSA database.

Only problem so far is the resolution of screenshots and artworks become distorted sometimes. Otherwise, it's an amazing OS.

I went from Windows 7 to Windows 10. I lost no files on my external harddrive (which is of course expected), and neither on the "internal"(?) C: or D: drives. But no matter what, do NOT go to Windows 10. At least not right now.
As it currently stands, there's a really weird bug where gradients (Steam) are less colourful (like if the whole screen is limited to 256 colours at ALL times), and not only that, but also flicker a LOT as the screen brightens or dims, depending on how much bright stuff and how much dark stuff there is on the screen.
And a bit like that, even though I've set the screen brightness to full in the battery settings, I also find myself having to hit Fn+F6 to get the (laptop) screen to maximum brightness every... 5-10 seconds of browsing the internet. (Yes, guys, I HAVE turned "Adaptive Screen Brightness" off in the battery settings.) You are absolutely right, one should wait at least some weeks or so for the bugs to be worked out. (Not to mention nVidia graphic drivers being uninstalled...)

yeah, my two main considers were the reformating thing, and if my programs will work.

does it use the same amount of resources, or is it a massive jump in resource hogging like previous wins?

Well, the nVidia Control Panel won't work until you install nVidia drivers if you have an nVidia GPU, since upgrading uninstalls nVidia drivers, but other than that, I haven't noticed any programs not working or behaving strange.

I have no idea about that at all, all I know is I emulated Sonic Riders (PS2/PAL) both before and after going to Windows 10, and I think it felt like a 5% gain in performance or something. But I haven't played Sonic Riders for a few weeks before upgrading, so I'm not all that sure.

Yeah, wasn't planning to. Unless they end up forcing me to switch to 10, like games not working on DX11 anymore, which I guess will happen eventually, but not any time soon I don't think.

I just hope game developers won't be encouraging Xbox for Windows 10, after the ****stain that was Games For Windows Live. "Nyuh, we promise, it won't be like GFWL!" Like ****ing hell it won't. From their description of it I see no ***damn difference. "It's all part of a renewed focus on PC gaming!" Bull****, it's just a way to shove their PoS console down PC gamers' throats. And don't get me started on their exclusivity deal for Rise of the Tomb Raider. That was dirty as all hell.

...

Hah. I feel better now.

I just upgraded to Win 10 yesterday and everything works fine on the PC including SFM. If you're having problems, check for your audio and graphics drivers, (if they are new and causes issues, rollback to one that worked fine). If Windows Update keeps trying to install the new one, right click the update then ignore. This will allow you control over the drivers if the new one is bad but you're using an older (working one) in Windows 10.
